Default C5 turbo kit

Buddy of mine is looking to go FI in his 98 C5. He wants to go SC but I'm trying to push him towards turbo. Does anyone besides Huron and TT make either a single or twin kit? The price is the biggest factor in a kit and I'm just unaware of any decent priced turbo kits for the C5.

All jokes aside, i've been digging around too for a friend, i'll just build his for him if i can find something someone has done already that we both like.

I gave him this option but it's a time thing. He is impatient and wants something he can bolt up and go.

I've seen the upps kit, I like that one but damn 6k is pricey. He is looking for something in the 3k range. Those ats kits are nice too but rear mount = no thanks. I've been waiting for ON3 to come out with a kit but it doesn't look like they are making any progress with the C5's.

The bolt on simplicity of a supercharger in a Y body is great. I like turbos but a supercharger kit is almost too easy on a vette.

We just finished fabrication of our C5 Twin Turbo Kit.

Front mount, retains all OEM accessories, custom fabricated manifolds, huge custom fabricated intercooler. Really will be the bee's knees set-up for a C5. Will fit up to a pair of T4, S-cover turbos retaining all accessories, nothing else on the market will compare. 1500+ hp capable. Definitely one to keep an eye out for in the near future!

Have you looked at the Hinson kit?

Strongly advise against the Hinson kit. It has massive fitment issues and you essentially have to custom make everything else. I had one, took it off before I even fired up the car and sent it back.

IMO: you wont find a turbo kit for a c5 for $3k and even then it wouldnt include everything necessary to run it. UPP's kit is great for the price!

why not just pick a ON3 performance single turbo or a borg warner and use 6.0 truck manifolds and fabricate the rest of the piping.. Get a general Intercooler and make it fit some how? Doesnt seem like THAT much work. And would probably be around 3k if you paid for fab work.

In a perfect world:

$1k turbo
$500 IC
$1500 in piping and random crap like gaskets/couplers

I wouldn't expect the kit to be "complete" but don't see why someone couldn't come up with a kit that met those requirements.

C5's are exactly known for spare engine bay room but neither was my Datsun and I managed to shove two turbos in there. The guy is a family man with a young daughter and he works a lot. He is looking for a good in expensive option that he can essentially bolt up.

not doing a turbo c5 for 3k. Not a good one anyway. If you did all the work yourself and used super budget parts maybe. But it will not perform like a well built setup. If your looking for budget boost used blower kit.
