Default Turbo for 383sbc

I know it's not a ls, but a buddy of mine is building a s-10 with a 383sbc. Has a "pt 38" he called it now. It's way to small.
What about a gt45? Is it big enough on the turbine side for 500-550whp? It's a budget deal so most of the good stuff is out.
motor i a 383sbc. Iron head. Has eagle rods, diamond pistons. Blow through no intercooler e85. It's also just a street truck. What would be he's best option for a turbo. I did show him the borg stuff, but not sure he wanted to spend the money. But after looking at mine he started searching ebay.lol
Thanks guys.

They eBay gt45 will support 500 to 550 on a 383. Much more than that and you might run out of turbine. They support 600-650 on the smaller 5.3s and 4.8s all day.

What about some ebay "Gt35's"?
The T4 6162's. With the manifolds he got it sure would make it a lot easier. Their T4 and they even have wastegate mounts on them.
Anyone every see manifolds like these? He got them off craigslist for $200.

Ebay GT35s will work, but that's quite a bit of overkill for 550 hp. I've seen those manifolds before.

Looking at gt 35's. Wanting to go t4. They make a 6162 t4 w/ .68 ar. Is this going to be better then a t3 .84? Now we are going to make 600rwhp. Is there a better way to go? What kind of power will these 6162's make say at 20 psi?
Thanks

I'd put you in a box stock s366 if you're on a super tight budget. they're not expensive and will be a much nicer piece than anything from ebay.

looks like those manifolds are built for 38mm wastegates too so you the gt35 ebay ones without the internal wastegates would work also the bw will work give even more room to grow
