I've been thinking about the ramifications of cutting a notch out of the fan shroud (in an effort to make the truck hat clear).
Could that have a negative effect on suction ... in other words could the square notch create an opportunity for air to be sucked in from the engine bay rather than through the radiator.
Would I be better of without the shroud all together ?

Anybody have real time experience with this ?

I would try to keep it sealed. You could notch out a section and either fill it in with sheetmetal and tig weld it into place, or with some fiberglass mat and resin. Bob

Thanks Bob, that sounds like a doable solution. Worth a try.

You're welcome. It would be easy enough to do with fiberglass cloth and resin, as you could form it to whatever you need it to be. Bob

Not sure if this helps.

I had the stock ATI small plastic hat on my car. 9#'s of boost was all I could achieve. I had this custom stainless steel hat fabricated to fit around the corner and ran a larger air filter. I gained 4.5#'s of boost and 100 RWHP just by adding this hat matched with a larger filter.

This also has WAY more clearance than the stock plastic tube from ATI.

Could you post a pic of this setup installed in the car? It looks like it would sit inside of the factory radiator location.

This is on my LT1. The Prochargers inlet faces the opposite direction on an LT1 compared to an LS1. So what I had would not likely help you. That, and honestly the location of the blower, and everything around it make getting a good picture of it in the car near impossible as it is in a very small area. This inlet, even though facing the other direction for an LS1 car would work perfect though. And yes, it's in between the radiator and the engine on the drivers side low.
