Thanks im thinking of running those as well now.

Do you guys think the ls1 347 would live long in the 8-900whp range? I want to stay aluminum. Wont be getting raced all the time so mostly will see low boost with the occasional street racing/messing around. The ls1 is ready to go to machine shop, rods/pistons, pinning main caps, and what ever they do normally. Just need to know, ive seen/heard ppl go 1k and ppl blow them up at 700... Thanks guys been a lot of help and have got a lot of stuff ordered up and what not

IMO any decent 6665 will be pretty big for twins on a 347.

And are you asking if a well built LS1 will be ok, or a bog standard engine ?

And bad tuners/builders could blow any engine up at any power level.

I'm asking if the ls1 being built well will live in that hp range. Arp everything, pinned main caps, balanced assembly, ect.

700hp should pose no problems at all then with suitable tuning.

How was both of your experiences with huron speed with purchasing the kits? What packages did you get?How much did you spend?I'm really liking their twin kits.

STEVIETURBO-How about 850whp?

RORRIC-Pte 6266 hey, sounds like it will lite up real fast. Nice man.

SS- Great kits, awesome ppl. He answered all my stupid questions fast and detailed. Think we are ate 2750 not including turbos/gates/bov. If you order a kit it's free shipping, better discounts on parts. I'd jump on it man.

I'd still be happy enough at 850, but again a lot boils down to quality of build and tuning.

If you push too hard, of course you can risk damage.

Block walls/liners arent super thick, so if you push hard with compression/boost/fuel...then the risks will be higher than with safer levels of the same.

Also if it's just for some blasts on the road, some 1/4 stuff...no biggie, if you're looking to drive flat out loads of mile runs etc etc then perhaps something a bit more robust at that level should be considered.

Sub 1000, and even a bit higher I wouldnt move away from an Alu block though

I opt for the quicker return on my kit hopefully b4 April I get it. We will see.

It will mostly see low boost with here and there street races. Probably see the track twice a year. Thanks for your advice.

Update- ordered my momo steering wheel, weld rts wheels, fuel system, hid head lights, and racing seats.
Right now trying to figure out if I can use a set of 317 heads I have or to buy Prc 225cc. Like I've said before where I can save money now and upgrade later would be nice. Ac delete almost done

Save the doe and go with the 317's. The market is strong for them and you'll likely loose minimal to no $$ when you decide to step it up.

So I've talked to a few ppl on here that make a lot of power with ls1's. Right now I'm going with 317 heads, ls9 gaskets copper sprayed top/bottom, rods/pistons, arp everything, pinned mains, Machine shop is going to clean up the heads and make sure they match up with the block..
If this car makes north of 700whp I'd take it. Can always upgrade stuff down the road, just want to make sure I get it driving by beginning of May!
Thanks for the opinions guys, I take each one in consideration before just going with what 1 guy says.

Why are you spraying the head gaskets?

Spraying gaskets seems to be added insurance, wasn't sure if I'd need it since machine shop will be cleaning everything up and ect.

Sell your running motor and do an ls2/ls3/l92 block. Ls1 blocks over time I have read can lose ring seal with lots of street miles. Plus the bigger bore opens up valve options.

Kind of a noob questions guys- mechanical or electrical for gauges. Looking at the auto meter phantom gauges 2 5/8 for my vents. Thinking of running an aem in a pod so it's digital and right next to me and 3 other gauges for vents.. what have you guys used/liked?

I like the phantom gauges. electric fuel pressure, mechanical boost, and trans temp if you have an auto.

I ran a mtx-l wideband which was digital and it worked well and matched pretty nicely with the autometer phantom gauges.
