Default $5k budget for turbo 5.3. Please help!!!

i picked up a 2000 5.3, and I plan to turbo it just like everyone else. The engine only has 60k on it and is in pretty damn good shape. I'm new to turbos (coming from nitrous) and I have no clue what turbo to get. Goal is 750+hp on 91 octane gas.

Parts I have=
Ls6 intake
Ls1 accessories
Stock 5.3 with 862 heads
Built th400
Built 9"

Parts I will order=
Arp head studs
Arp rod bolts (if need be)
Ls9 gaskets
^^and that's pretty much what I have in my cart so far^^

I will be fabbing up my own hot side, standing up the radiator, doing all the work myself.

I've seen guys run the s475, s480, tc76, tc78, but I haven't found a deffinate answer to a setup that will put me between 750-800 with a little room to grow if need be. I have the stock heads, but am open to 317s,243s or 799s of that's what I need to make the power. I will also get a custom grind cam. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!!!

This question is asked daily man or atleast something very similar. Scroll through this section a couple pages back and just look for similar titles. I promise youll find something pretty quick if you will just look.

Any of the turbos you mentioned will make 750 flywheel on a 5.3.

Ls1 intake has been in the 7s but the LS6 is better if you have it. Many run Alper Motorsports $100 head studs into the 8s and even 7s. Arp are better but maybe not needed. If you can get e85 it is worth the effort to set up your fuel system for it. It has better cooling/anti detonation properties than regular fuel and is under $2.50/gal for 106 octane. I love it!

Running stock truck manifolds the Ohio Boys in a turbo Fbody went 200mph in the 1/4 with them. I would just adapt a crossover to those and place the WG in a spot where it gets good flow.

just run a pt7675, get the baddest one you can afford, and depending on your cam, on 22-24lbs you should make around 850 wheel... so you can base that off going with a larger turbo if you wanna run less boost and make that kinda power

It's doable bit you better watch where and how you send the money. That $100 stuff adds up quickly. I'm trying to stay under $5000 myslef. Even with great deals it can spiral out off control. Here is a list I started to make. There's no fuel system, converter, and I had the computer stuff already. Probably be $2000 more.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I called forced inductions today and they recommended a Garrett 7583 T4. Said 750-800rwhp is very doable with it. And it's only $850 brand new.

I've started a parts list.. Already up to 2k in no time at all...

Garrett 7583 $850
Tick custom cam kit $700
Exhaust piping and flanges $200
Alper head studs $100
Griffin radiator $250

Still gotta worry about the fuel system, probably run new return and supply lines, get cold side piping, a waste gate, boost gauge, a water meth kit, a good boost controller, and other odds and ends. I don't see it being much more than my original budget. I actually don't think I'll go over 5k to be honest.

What size/brand injectors would you guys recommend? That are somewhat cheap..?
Do any of you run an Eboost2 controller?
What waste gate would I need?

SEiman deka (spelling) 80# are the trend.

Eboost 2 is nice but it's als almost 600$ new.. Not budget friendly.

Tons of waste gates to choose from .. Pick your price. People have had luck with the Emusa off eBay which is what I'm running on my car. ~50$
