What are the real pros/cons of the Vbox sport vs. the Qstarz? It seems more road race guys use the Qstarz, and the drag race/mile racers use the VBox, but on paper I don’t see what is warranting an extra $300 for the Vbox.
VBox has been around for a very long time, and it is certainly far from drag only people using their product.

Most magazine, journalist, lots of car tv program performance tests etc will all use VBox products. As well as high end motorsport people.

Of course the VBox Sport is at the cheapest end of the products they offer, some are very very expensive.

As to what really makes their stuff better, or why it is more expensive than others....without detailed use of both that would be hard to say.

Some of the Qstarz stuff looks very good, but they also see to offer many many units, and certainly the website seems to lack some clarity on the use/application/functionality of them all ?

eg their bluetooth 66 channel unit is half the price of the Q1000ex. What's the difference ? Is the hardware the same ? Are you buying a different software version ? What does the 66 channel actually refer to ?

Which one of their product would cover almost all options ?

I'm sure a lot of practical application will also depend on the software that comes with the unit. No use having a great unit, with crap software.

Do you know anyone using the Qstarz for actual feedback ? Comparisons to actual track data/slips for drag and circuit etc to confirm accuracy ?

Yes, but they are literally all Road race or Autocross guys. Accuracy with the automated lap timers is within 3 tenths of second.

There's no doubt the VBox works.

The latest although awkward and clumsy VBox Test Suite software allows offline interpretation of data inclusive of the 1ft rollout, so you can do standard 1/4 data, 60ft or any speed/distance increments you want and view multiple runs beside each other or overlay graphs.

Yeah I've only ever used the original performance box software or load it onto vboxtools.com

I should load that once and see. Tbanks

it is more basic overall, but although clunky, it is better for viewing multiple runs as you can load quite a few runs and easily flick between them or overlay them, and select results inclusive of the 1ft rollout, which the other software versions lack directly.
