V BOX users step in.

If you have a good undriven wheel speed source, or you have good traction via the OEM speedo readings, then no reason why you cant log speeds via the ecu if you have it calibrated correctly.
Whether that's via HPT, EFILive or some sort of OBD app, doesnt matter. Again the faster the update rate the better

No WheelSSs' on the 90 Rx7, and no speed sensor in the trans (there was no plug in my hack harness!!) so that's not an option currently.
And, traction is an issue! It will stick with slicks on the track, but with the boost up it's a battle.
I use one a ton for rolling incrementals
Its cheap for what you get
Use one once and you are hooked, it isn't as easy as people think to put down big power with rwd on the street

But the basic screen mount grey boxes are 10Hz
Most phones are likely only 1 or 2Hz at best

I thought they where a joke until a friend with a ttg made me try it, hooked. To have something like a 60-130 street list from a large group of rwd stuff would be competitive
Thing is it can't be cheated, list master can see exactly what road the file took place on so no cheating with the track
I know I am prouder of my street intervals than I am my 1/4 mile track passes

The Qstarz stuff is great for the money.
I ended up buying the VBox Mini, partly because of the VBox Tools....which is apparently superb software...that I havent a ******* clue how to use LOL.
There is a new VBox Test Suite, which for most straight line stuff is a lot more straightforward, and it will also accommodate the 1foot rollout easily, which seems to be an issue with runs logged then reviewed on either Performance Tools or VBox Tools
Ended up picking the VBox Mini as it also has a yaw sensor, not that I drift a lot, but adds some info when doing some other racing too.
Apparently you can use the VBox tools to generate power/torque graphs too, but it'll probably be 5 years before I figure that one out
What are the real pros/cons of the Vbox sport vs. the Qstarz? It seems more road race guys use the Qstarz, and the drag race/mile racers use the VBox, but on paper I don’t see what is warranting an extra $300 for the Vbox.
