Default First Pass This Year

Well got tired of seeing the money pit just sit in the garage waiting to get a working pulley set up so I decided to throw on the stock 6 rib ATI crank pulley and a 3.0 supercharger pulley and make a few shake down runs on the new heads and cam combo. It was making around 7psi tonight which is about 3 less than last year. First pass I just launched it off idle and it cut a 1.53 60ft. Far from my best 60 ft put I didn't footbrake it even, let alone use that old trans brake. Here's the run
60 ft .......1.53
1/8et ......6.86
1/8mph.100.48
1/4et.....10.82
1/4mph.122.59 (lifted early)
Went back for a second pass but by then the traction was gone at the line. Brought it up against the brake and it melted the tires so I lifted to get traction. It went a 11.22 on that run. I'm very happy with the car at 7psi, just can't wait to see it at 15+psi.

Thanks guys

MM I know what you mean, my car was a 6 speed and I ran et streets. I was able to pull a 1.60 with that combo. Now the Rossler 400 turbo without using the transbrake has allowed me to cut best of a 1.44. Bought a set of 28X10.5X15W ET Drags but don't have them mounted yet.

Awsome Tom...... are you still trying to get things worked out with the Cog's? On a side note what are you running for a bypass valve.... or are you running a BOV?? Was that with the small stock intercoolers that came with the kit??

Yup stock intercoolers and yes I'm still hoping the cogs work. Mark is working with Lee on a couple ideas with the hopes the cogs work.

How do you like it and do you have it vented to the atmosphere??

Were did you buy it? Do you have any pics how you installed it. I know you and BOS have it and i am looking at getting it and running a FMIC.
Thanks

Vented to atmosphere and I got it from a friend who runs a local speed shop. I had mine tig welded into the back of the upper plenum on the passenger side.

Its a good BOV, I have mine vented to the atmosphere as well.....sounds like a street sweeper coming down the street (no joke)

Tom I would like to see you get the cogs worked out, I threw in the towel and I'm going with the SD 8rib stuff, I should have it in my hands early next week if all goes well....

10.8 for the first of the year w/the 6-rib stuff is a good shakedown......I just can't wait to see what a consistent group of us with 15psi + can do.......especially when we throw the FMIC on the car

Thanks again guys

Yup smokinhawk I plan on running it at NvsS even if it's just bracket racing. I wish I knew when the cog set up would be ready but as for now it's still in the try this and see if this works stages.

Update on the cogs since it is topic within this thread.

Lee made a new set of cogs within 1 week. I now have a 80 tooth Crank cog and a 37 tooth SC cog using a 1040 belt. This ratio still allows the D1SC to be maxed around 6600+ rpms. The set-up bolts together better than the original set we all have. By that I mean it's easier to get the belt on and tensioner has more travel which creates more belt wrap.

Took it for a test drive tonight and it's is remarkably better already. More TEETH, larger cogs, less rpms on the SC cog. I did'nt notice any significant slipping/jumping up thru 5000 rpms. Kinda tuff to feel when my car is not tuned and it needs a revised set of head gaskets. Anyway the final piece of the puzzle is to engineer a 1-piece lower standoff with an extra idler. I'll be working on that this weekend and coming week. So far very promising

great times man. although i am stating to wonder if any boosted cars ever hook between you and MM. then again, i can think of worse problems than too much power for teh tires

Good to see you are up and running Tom! How do you like our 6.0 liter heads? Still plan on coming up to Detroit to get tuned? Have fun and hopefully you get the cog's on soon.

Thank Ya

Chris, lets just say that two years ago with a different heads and cam combo and 8psi my car ran a best of 11.20 with a year of trying. This year with your 6.0 heads and a different cam @ 7psi my first pass was a 10.82 and I know with a little tuning that it will run 10.50 or better @ 7-8 psi. Yup I like them. Yes I still plan on you guys doing my tuning. You ready for the NvsS Shootout?

Ray I had to swap over to et drags also, our tracks around here don't know or don't care about traction. Hope Kil Kare does a better job for the COFBA than they do for test and tune, if not better get the biggest widest slick you can find and then you might have to back peddle a bit in low. Thursday night on the second pass I thought I was on ICE trying to get it to hook.

Mark those cogs need track tested.
