eBay WG Recommendation. Denmah?
Looking for a inexpensive but good WG for a buddy's project and notice that Matt's recommendation was EMUSA. However, after checking eBay, I am a little confused as I saw "EMUSA" 38mm WGs ranging from $58 to $959
So, can Matt or anyone recommend a specific WG that they have used w/o issues.
...tks,

They change the prices to $959 or something ridiculous when they run out of stock so that nobody will attempt to buy them, yet they don't have to take the auction down and then relist.

I am using an EMUSA, but we used twin of these wastegates on my buddies car, and they are working great. And they come with the 16psi springs, for those "serious" guys. lol

I have a single EM USA 38MM gate on my 5.3 with single T70 and so far it has been great. I am not sure what combination of springs are in it right now but it spikes to 11.5 PSI on hard throttle application and then almost immediately drops back to 10 PSI and holds it there until 6000+ RPM.
For the money it is hard to beat in my book.

Had two EMUSA 38's on my old car. Had one stick open (thankfully not shut) on the dyno, but I never took them apart before installing. Took that one gate apart, lubed it up, and it worked great for me the rest of the summer. I don't think the new owner has had any problems with them either.

yeah they can have small burr's or other random issues being so cheap, but they work fine if you give them some attention
the ones im running on the fairmont are twin 40mm vband gates that look like MVS clones, they are amazing, for whatever reason they have 4 allen key plugs in the inside of the diaphram housing and one of mine backed out, it was leaking boost pressure so the gate would never open
ended up just opening it up and checking it out and viola
Attachment 723093
almost always an easy fix
we have had a few where the valve guide is too high or low, and the gate does not seal right against the weld in flange, so boost is lazy, if you take it apart and hammer the guide down and then put a punch in the inside and expand the bottom so it cant walk back up and then drill and grease it etc again youll never have any issues
for 60 dollars instead of 600 dollars what can you really complain about lol

I sort of agree with denmah on this one. I have the same gate he uses, and make sure to clean it up before you use it. There was burs and metal shavings galore inside of it. It would have torn stuff up really quick. And like he said, the thing doesnt seal up super well, im glad he just explained how to fix it lol

Im using Godspeed wg and bov..they look like tial stuff and use tial replacement parts.Just like other cheap knockoffs..just need to make sure they are clean..use some antiseize on bolts etc before use and it should last you a long time.
Mine came with 7psi spring inside and then a 10 and 12psi springs extra and its a 50mm gate and bov.

WyntonM wastegate. 44mm V-band with 4psi spring installed. Showed more like 2.8psi on my boost gauge. Added a Tial small red spring and now with both springs more like 8.5psi. The waste gate has three tracks for springs. The middle track accepts the Tial 1.875" o.d. springs. My data logs show a nice steep rise and abrupt flat line at boost level. Variation is on the order of 0.25psi through the gear.
This is my third. Sold first as I wanted a higher boost level and didn't know how to get replacement springs. Second one stuck as it corroded over the winter from filling up with condensation. Freed it up but didn't trust it anymore. Went back to the "mini" because the finned 7psi version was no longer available and took a chance on ordering a larger spring.
