I test drove a 09 Canyon with the 5.3 and crew cab also 4x4. This was just before i bought my Trailblazer SS. The truck was REALLY quick. I was impressed how fast it was.
A regular cab 2wd with a turbo 6.0 will fly. Get the Caltracs or the Assassin bars. You wont regret it.
Are you gonna run megasquirt or use stock pcm?
Glad to see you back at it Matt.

For a cheapish electronic controller I'm really happy with it
I was going to use a truboost but a buddy had one these in his twin turbo 5th gen and it just seemed like a nicer piece

That truck with any power will have bad wheel hop. Caltracs will fix it completely. The assassin bars are supposeedly better and easier to.install and they have adjustability over caltracs.

Either will work i run caltracs.

Very cool project Matt! I enjoy reading your builds as much as I enjoyed reading comics as a kid.

Any chance I'll be seeing this at Ocean City, MD in October? The sad part is that you'll have this complete by then and I'm hoping to have my car done by then with a 4 month head start.

i probably will do some sort of caltrac or something considering the overwhelming amount of people that say these have issues with traction and hopping

i will be using stock ecu so i can easily retain AC and stock dash functionality, i would love to put in the gold box and do all of that but it doesnt really have ac controls, i can probably make it all work somehow, but we will see how it all goes, i know i can be up and running with the stock computer faster, might integrate the gold box into the car later.

ill be installing a small cam, probably pac springs, and 80lb injectors, 400 LPH in tank of course.

I'm curious how you'll deal with the ignition switch issue; whether you'll take the sloppy way or the stupid expensive way.

yeah i read about that, only the soft ignition or something and then the ecu fires the starter, probably a rubber push button to start a tractor from tractor supply

My Gto uses the same system, so did my cts
ignition goes to the bcm, bcm cranks the starter
Haven't had any issue with it, why mess with it?

There must be a reason for this part in some applications.

I am looking for a Colorado to do this same thing to and will be calling Current to get their input. Will probably be using their mounts also.

Looking forward to this one.

I do suggest getting some kind of traction bars cause my kids 06 Colorado with a 4cyl and 5 spd spins and wheel hops if you get on it. I just got done changing out that same resistor and harness, its a common deal with those trucks.

Good luck with traction. I am hoping you have some feedback once you start trying to get traction because my bolt on NA LS1 S10 with 305s out back using caltracs does not get much traction till 3rd gear. Weight distribution is ~62/38 according to the proform 4 point scales I used. I calculated my vertical center of gravity to be about 30 inches from the ground, so higher than the camshaft centerline.

Nice! Is the explorer rear pretty close width wise to the Colorado?

Fill the tail gate with concrete. A guy with an El Camino did it 20 years ago and ran 9.30s on 9 inch slicks. Laugh if you want, but he made a lot of people looks stupid! Good springs, shocks and CalTracs (even good slapper bars for sleeper sake) should get it done though.

Default Sloppy 05 Colorado Base model swap build

Concrete in the tailgate. Now that's a sloppy idea worth trying. if things don't work out, of course. Excited to see this one!

With regard to the BCM issue, if it's anything like my Holden ute here in Australia, all you have to do is run a permanent ground at the starter relay (I did this today funnily enough). In my case the BCM only controls the starter relay ground wire. Give the relay its own earth and the key works as per normal. Then just make sure you turn off the VATS in hptuners.

@ roastin240 There is a guy on here that goes by silver_82 with a stock suspended first gen S10. IIRC he cuts 1.27 60fts.
