If you can weld, you can fabricate a pretty nice twin turbo hotside for no more than $500 plus the cost of manifolds.
There is nothing wrong with the LQ4. A stock cube forged rotating assembly would be capable of a ton of power.
And then stick to your plan with one builder, don't ask around and mix parts.
A built LQ4 with a s480 or twin 62s will easily make 7-800hp if done correctly

IMO if you are happy with 800-1000WHP take that LQ4 and punch it out to 370ci and enjoy it. You can have a nice forged turbo long block capable of these numbers and not have to worry about reliability around $7k or less.
