I would think that if you got that IAT down that would put you in the 7s without any other changes.

It needs more power to run 7s yes. I can do it several ways, by utilizing the dual fuel and running methanol i can get more aggressive with the tune, thats what id really like to do.

But it also needs a converter adjustment. Im going through the traps at just over 7300. My cam is puny and is better suited below that

Converter and keep chipping away at the 60 are next on the list after drag week

I'm guessing Drag Week will be a contest to see who can run 8.50 at each track. Unless the rules have changed.

Very nice work! You have done a heck of a job with the S10 and your combo.

Thanks! I think they will perform really well on a 6.0. Im going to try very soon. The hotside flows alot and shows no signs of backpressure issues on ths engine

Default Throttle body

I'm a huge fan of your intelligent design, and have two questions.
I'm curious about your throttle body and intake manifold.
It looks to me that you've straightened the intake of an edelbrock pro flo.
Was this for ease of plumbing or an airflow decision ?
Also, can you tell me of your reasoning behind the choice to use a drive by wire throttle body ?

leaf spring suspension
295 radials
glide with 3.50 rear gear
2005 iron 5.3, no block filler, no aftermarket main or rod bolts
pump E85, no intercooler
31psi

This shortblock has been a brute, 4 seasons of countless NMCA true street races, 2013 drag week, Well over a hundred 8 sec passes. Looking forward to going on dragweek again in 2 weeks.
Great job!

Part in bold is going to rustle some jimmy's...

You are goin thru the traps at 7300 because you have 3.50 gears in it.

Assuming 28" tall 295 radial? 168 mph is 7060 rpm. 7300 is 3.3% slip. Thats not bad. I would put taller tire or less gear in it. Converter seems fine

Very cool Chris to see how far this S10 has come! You'll be in the 7's before you know it. Bob

I wonder if the mechanical magic is in the small bore iron block and large bore LS9 gasket with fire ring closer to head bolt clamping force?

Based on mech fuel pump vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6PV...ature=youtu.be looks like motor is on mounts which I suspect may allow motor (deck) to flex more than plates. Anyone have insight or strain gauge measurements on this? I imagine, frame structure/integrity has a lot to do with it when using plates. Whatever, it's working awesome so far!

The rest seems to be tune?

This isn't the first 5.3 to make this much (or more) power without lifting heads.

Pretty sure that one stang that was running in the 4s he filled his heads and block with hard block and of course head studs and spot on tuning kept it from lifting a head. Still cracked a piston or scattered one lol.

Very cool truck to say the least. I am also building an S10 with the same goals in mind, but not a daily driver, but a weekend driver. This truck is hauling the mail and I like the details put into the build, especially fueling. I will be tracking this truck as more comes up. Again, I love your truck Silver_82 , Great job.
