Now, the axels can come out to be upgraded to 5/8 studs and the converter can be pulled for a restall.
DO NOT go with a 1A.... just go one step down, trust me lol. The 1A is stupid tight and a bitch to light up on a 5.3

Actually, on the 9.94 pass, the converter was locked at 130mph. I think it will still pick up with the tighter converter though. The RPM through the traps is down around 5300 with a locked converter.
Just saw this, I'd hate to say it but I think you might be making a mistake tightening the converter. I didn't know you were locking the converter, I would try locking the converter sooner if possible. A little slip is a good thing it will help you multiply torque and get you down the 1/8 quicker.

With the 2b leaving on 4.5psi I went 1.64 60' and it took probably 2 seconds to build.

The 1A I went to the track and only got one pass. Left on 2 more PSI and 60' 1.64 on top of that it took about 1 seconds longer to build the boost.

I'm not sure if they're planning on restalling to a 1A. This car still needs to 60 well. Hopefully, we can come up with something for that tightens it at least a little on the top end without making it too tight down low.

Thanks for sharing your first hand experience with a very similar application. I'll bring up your experience when I chat with circle d again.

Sounds like we are in the same boat with the converter as well. I have the 2b and have been a best of 1.38 60' off the footbrake. Circle-D thinks they can get it tighter up top without sacrificing my ability to footbrake the car. It's not picking up the MPH it should when I turn it up. I go from 115-116 traps to a best of 118.8 and it took almost 5 lbs. to do it. I am guessing the slip on the converter is what is holding my Gen 3 rods together though. I am contemplating a transbrake this winter though since I am putting a good rod and piston in it.

Circle D told me the same thing. I'm willing to take the gamble and hopefully they deliver. Have you sent yours in yet?

Btw, Your car is putting work on those gen iii rods! Damn!

I haven't sent it in yet. I planned on racing the car a couple more times this year but the trans developed a leak from the pump seal. I am trying to decide if I want to do a brake or not now.

I am shocked this engine is still alive. It's been in the car for 4 years now and I beat on it pretty good this year. Anxious to see what it looks like when I tear it down this winter.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your converter. Mine is already out and I'm shipping it in this week.

Be sure to post up about your shortblock findings. I just subscribed to your thread.

Well, I just received my new 252mm converter from circle d. We ended up trading the 258mm 2b in for their new 252mm converter. To tighten up my original 258mm converter on the top end would have sacrificed some ability to footbrake and launch the car. This new converter supposedly will be tighter up top (sub 10% slip) and footbrake better than the 2b.

The new converter is a single disc. Should no longer need a triple disc to bandaid high slip numbers.

Chris and I talked about 16 blade 35 degree stator. I'm not sure how to read my part number though.

I was at 16% slip before. rpm was 6600 through the traps at 138. 28 inch tire and 3.25 gear.

It sounds like your beast is ready for more gear.

I def need a taller tire . These 25.6 in tires aren't cutting it.

It's been a while since I looked at the build progress. Congratulations on the 9's that freaking awesome!

Finally dropping the car off this week to get the intercooler and down pipe routed and welded up! Pretty excited to be honest!
