Default Anyone ever swap BOV springs?

Just running the basic Denmah turbo setup. GT45 with Emusa gate and BOV. Having issues with the BOV working properly. Sounds perfect when the car is under 7lbs and i get out of it. Anything over that, it's like it's not working. Actually blew the charge pipe off a couple times. I took it apart last night and the spring is extremely tight. I've got a couple of get springs sitting around that I could swap but I've never heard of anyone having issues with it.

BOV is referenced to the passenger side intake, directly behind TB.

Watch videos of his last fair mint he built Rich. I'm pretty damn sure that's a BOV I'm hearing.

Is it normal to cut the could or replace the spring? I've never heard of anyone doing it. Don't care a bit to try though.

The tuner that we started using did it to all of ours. So we just started doing it. It seems to blow off a lot better now. It does get kind of annoying though if it's a daily, cause it will blow off even if you havent gotten into boost when you let off the gas.

I don't care if it makes the sound constantly as long as it is working correctly. That spring was so tight that I couldn't compress it with my hands when it was assembled. I know when charge pipe is blowing off that something's not right. Just seems crazy I've never read about anyone else having problems. I know a lot of people use the same one but I don't think I have ever even seen anything bout swapping springs.

I use a mity-vac and bench test them under vac until they are not too much more stiff than running engine vac.

I typically swap in different wastegate springs until it is where I need it.

The hot side and gate are working well together. Holding boost to whatever spring I've got in there. It's just this blow off
Valve.

I've got a shop vac but don't understand how your using it to test the BOV. How do you know how much vacuum it's pulling?

If it comes down to it, I'll just cut a couple coils off the spring or stick one of my gate springs in

Sorry I should have wrote that to read differently. I install spare gate springs i having into the bov to get it where I need it. Since i have 9210840932842 of them.

I use a mity-vac like this
http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...FY89gQodQGkCpA

Use a hose hooked up to the bov and see how much vac it takes to pull the valve open with the spring I install.

Swapped in a light WG spring. BOV is now open at idle and will close whenever you hit the throttle. Like I said, first turbo car but if my thinking isn't backwards, isn't that right or at least on the right track
?

No put a stiffer spring in it if it's open At idle. Then just rev it up should just start to open when your idle comes down

This. This is why i test with mity vac so I can replicate the idle vac and know before I install it if it will be open.

I took and cut 2.5 coils off the original spring. You can see the BOV move just a fuzz on idle but it doesn't appear to ever be open. Once any throttle is applied, it shuts hard and stays closed. Opens up on rpm decel just like you all said it should. Thanks a ton for the help..I'm still not getting the wicked sound they most people get but I'm guessing the motor has to be under load before you will actually hear it.
