Does anyone let their radiator fan(s) run 24/7
About to rewire the entire car to cut back on wires, fuses, and relays, all while relocating everything under the dash. I noticed that there are 3 relays and two fuses for just the fans. And probably more wiring related to it all.
I'm thinking about just running wiring and fuse directly from a switch to the fans and leaving the fans on at all times while engine is running.
Does anyone else do this or see a problem with it? Will the fan motors overheat? I understand the motors wont last as long running all the time but are we talking a life span of 3 months or 8 years or more.

I have done it for 3 years now in my street car/summer daily. No issues what so ever. May be a little hard on the fan when you take a 2-3 hr ride but it is a 16" $25 china fan so not too worried about it lol.
This year I was having issues bleeding the air out of the coolant system and I removed my 160 t-stat. motor runs at 200* always even in stop and go traffic

In an ideal world the air over the radiator when your moving should keep the water at normal temp, no fans
Most newer cars turn the fans on all the time when the AC is on
Not having the fans on while driving is free HP-they draw a lot of amps, I can feel the diff-I see no reason to have them on if the cooling system can work with no fans and your moving.
Your working the fans for no reason, and the alt.

SPRAYED 01 and 95 bowtie, good to hear, that sounds great, thanks.
forcd ind, ideally I'd like to have them turn on and off depending on temps like from the factory, but if it comes down to that luxury or cutting out a lot of wiring, fuses, and relays then the simple wiring wins for me.
hellbents10, totally agree. I have mine on a switch and I leave them running in the staging lanes, burnout, and stage, then turn them off.
Since there doesnt seem to be a problem with running them all the time I'm going to do that. Thanks guys

I'm not saying I want to wire it to automatically come on and stay on literally all the time. I'm saying just put it on a switch. Have it off on the interstates, highways, and making passes at the track, on in stop and go traffic or staging lanes. Seems simple enough. Forcd ind had a good point, using the AC makes the fans stay on all the time. I'd be using the fans less than that.
I figure if I've given up the luxury of power steering, no AC, turn signals and high beems on a switch (no multi function switch), and so on, then I can handle turning the fan on and off on a street/strip car that sees 4k miles per year.
