I have no problem using cheap turbos but I refuse to use cheap china gates. It's just not worth the risk to me. precision or turbosmart gates only

I don't see the risk personally if you stay on top of maintenance, it *shouldn't* have an issue. A "good" gate can fail as well. Everyone should have some sort of over boost protection good WG or not. If I go past my over boost setting, the MegaSquirt cuts ignition. Most aftermarket ECU's have some sort of protection against this.

Thanks for the info. I'll go with the 76's, that's no problem. I was worried about spooling slower. I was looking at the OBX gates or VS racing brand. I seen the plain flat valley pans on ebay for like $38. Thought that would look better and the price was right.

I had a pte gate fail on the cobalt. So it can happen at any point.
