370 billet 85mm 8.87@150 on Pumpgas Upgrading to 25.3 going for 7s

New fuel pump works very well. The first 3 passes the car was very rich with pulling fuel each pass. Not the 7 I was dreaming for but it was consistent and got a new personal best. 8.22@165
Will have to look at the data better to see if there is any more left in it but I think its probably maxed out

Toss a pair of S476R's in there and 7's are assured lol.

Yes I am happy with what it has run. But with never really being satisfied I ordered a s491 with 104 exhaust wheel. Everything with bolt right up with no fab work that being the biggest s400 you can get. Also ordered a holley g meter. Hope to be back at the track in a few weeks to try for 7s again.

I said all of that as part of saying I agree with MIAmotorsports that the boost seems awfully high for the HP. I'm sure the car will improve but the S491 might be masking a back pressure or some other issue, like the I/C. Awesome car and setup and I'll be following your progress from the bleachers.

I know you've already gotten the S491 but I would still follow the advice above. As a comparison, I ran the same turbo (billet S485/102) on a 402 with unported L92 heads, stage4 cam and E85 and made about the same power based on a best of 169.74mph/3,330lbs and at about 26psi it was far from done. I know the smaller displacement, in theory, will require more boost but as said above, the 235 head should do better. Another comparison is a 370 I built and tune for a buddy that made a calculated 1000+ based on ET/MPH/Weight. It has unported 317s, ProFlo intake, stage2 cam and 26psi with a billet T4 S480/96/1.32. Car is an absolute freak.

Well, it took a long time to make it back down the track but got down there the end of the season with good weather and prep. Never ended up getting the car tuned on the dyno with the new turbo, so it took a few passes to get the tune worked out on pump gas with like 18psi to go 8.7s again. Now it was time to put it on c16 to go for a new personal best. First pass the car left good put hit boost cut at 36psi around 600 feet out. Adjusted the tune to shoot for around 30psi made the pass the car felt good all the way down but smelled coolant in the shutdown. Got the slip it went 8.3s at 164. Drove the car back to the pits and opened the hood there was coolant all over the engine from overflowing the catch can. Looked over the log everything looked good besides the coolant pressure going very high. I figured I would call it a day to play it safe because it more than likely lifted a head. I took the car for a drive down the street a few weeks later and you could watch the coolant pressure go up when the car got into boost, so i went home and ordered some head gaskets. I started to take the heads off started with the driver's side didn't see anything bad. Now time for the passenger side and the same thing head gasket and head looked fine, it really had me thinking. All the pistons liked good deck of the block looked good, so I spun the engine over then I found a nice crack in the cylinder wall of number 6. Not in any way what i though i was going to find but now it time to decide what to do now built Texas Speed lsx block 427 maybe or just a junk yard 6.0?

Oh man, that sucks! You’ve put so much into it, I’m sure this feels like a kick in the gut.
Best of success with your rebuild.
In my opinion, if you’re gonna keep pushing 30psi to it, you’d be better off with a sleeved block. Whether it’s TS&P or some other vendor, that’s for you to research. My buddy got his LSA block resleeved by Charlie Weston. He’s relatively local to us. The price was fair and turn around time was good.

Texas speed is the only place that i really looked into so far, but they said motors are like 16 to 18 weeks out. I had a motor built by them years ago. Not sure who else to look into.

Sorry to hear about your damage, but at least it didn't hyrdro and really come.apart on you. I have had good luck with Thompson Motorsports. Had a 1300hp rated LSX 388ci and now their 1800hp rated Dart 388ci. Not sure if you are looking for a shortblock or longblock, but I would give them a call and see whet their lead time is. I think this is the last day for their 2000hp Dart shortblock sale, (regularly $10,xxx now $8499.00), but they have motor of the month sales all the time. Either way, good luck with your decision and hope you have a Merry Christmas. 🎅
