Im in Iowa. I had to get my 6.0 and 4l80 out of california. They are hard as shot up here. Esp everything is 4 wheel drive. My buddy owns a scrap yard even. Maybe get 1 or 2 ls a year. They are starting to show up a bit more. Or they want a min of 1500 for a long block. Anythong under 100000 they get 2000- 2500 you pull it. I want mine to last a while. If it blows. Ill forge it. Its just a street car! Hahaha

I didn't really look on ebay. Thats not to bad esp with shipping. My buddy has 3 5.3s out there but they are no intake, no pan, sitting in the grass getting rained on. lol You see them on craigslist a bunch. The ls's just havint caught on as much up here. The younger guys are getting into them. Speed shops are starting to pop up and will finally tune them. Other than that, ws6 shop is 2.5 hours away and one of the only places that touches them. They pop up on craigslist every once in a while. Most are complete junk. Or theythink its worth a ton of money cause its an LS. At a 700 spot swap meet. 1 guy had a set of 317's. That was it. lol
"That computerized crap" "turbos arent consistant and do nothing but fart and pop" "put a carb on it and be done. barely anything to tune" is the majority attitude around here.
That was the hardest part about the Holley or MS. I could have spent 800 on a csu carb, msd box and been done with it. The msd box is just a bit more than alot of the injectors. Let alone, then I have to spend 2600 on the computer and buy the injectors. lol
That brings a great question since the OP was concerned about money. Why not throw a blow through on it and literally save yourself the cost of the computer?
I didnt because I don't know how to tune a carb. I LOVE the fact of being able to do it through tuning on the laptop. I love technology and this kinda stuff blows my mind on what you can do and see about your motor and turbo.

If there is a way to run Holley EFI but also be able to pass OBD II plug emissions, i would be running Holley already....is it easy to swap between the factory pcm and Holley manually for this purpose?

I've gotten mine running since posting in this thread and I have to say I'm glad I went with the Holley Dominator. My first go at fuel injection and it's fairly straight forward.
A couple things I've learned.
You can use generic pressure sensors. I bought the first ones from Holley but the ones I got from ebay work just as well.
The the ECU connectors are Tyco, while most of the connectors on the engine side are Delphi and you can buy them much cheaper from places like mouser than you can from Holley - here is an explanation of what is what https://forums.holley.com/showthread...als-Holley-EFI
The learn feature is great, especially on initial start. Get it close enough to keep it running and it will be idling in no time.

i really like my dominator setup with flex fuel and boost control and 80e control and its running the bosch 210 injectors great.
i would give out the tune i am running to anyone on here if interested
67psi of fuel pressure at 26lbs of boost all the way to 150mph only 55% idc on a 10.80 afr on 75% ethanol, the 210s and holley make a great combination for flex fuel setups
