Thanks guys. The bottom is just a dark rubberized undercoat that was misted in "dry". It hides everything and gives it a nice clean consistant finish. I'm looking forward to slapping this thing together as time allows!

I'm now remembering the nickel and dime phase. My CC is hot! Everytime i turn around there is something I forgot, or a different fitting that would work better, or something else stupid. My shop looks like UPS! I'm dropping the K-member tonight and will start preparing to get the engine/trans in. There's still some stuff I need to address before I pop it in, but I hope to get it in there before the end of January. Once it's in, that should clear up a ton of shop space. The interior is still ripped apart... I'll save that nightmare for the end...

Big step last night:

Little setback. I have NO IDEA how or why this could've happened. It fit perfectly prior to tear down. I can't see the ceramic coating process distorting it this much, and I can't see more than a few millimeter difference between the stock LS engine and the current engine. All mounting points are the same. Not the end of the world though. Ill probably just redo the end and get it recoated.

Same thing happened to my buddy with a 71 single turbo Camaro. Everything fit perfectly. He took it apart to swap engines and one hotside pipe was almost a half inch off when he put it back together. Had to cut it and redo the ends.

K-member has nowhere to go, really. Perhaps the block/head dimensions are slightly different, IDK. What's even weirder is the passenger side lined up as it should. Who knows. The merge pipe is already off.. I have a new female v-band, so we're going to cut off a section, add 3/8", and I'll send it out to get recoated because I like setting benjimans on fire.

I've been picking away at this, making more fuel lines, coolant vent lines, torquing bolts, and a bunch of other odds and ends. No significant change that's picture worthy until I get the merge back from coating and the compressor housing back from polishing. I'll be working on it Wednesday night and I hope to make some progress attacking/extending/securing the rest of the harness. Then I can move back to the interior with routing the harness, sound deadening, and putting the dash back together, which I'm really NOT looking forward to. Yay.

Okay, this got me thinking. Not that I didn't think about it before, but you know, lightbulb. I wonder if there's enough play in the frame floating nuts, or just in the bolt holes of the K itself to shift the K 3/8"... ugh

Thanks, UMI. I actually beat the **** out of them on accident when I was un aware they had a batch labeled upside down. I was so pissed at myself, LOL.

I did some measuring today, and the engine/trans definitely seems to be crooked. Seems to be a common issue with the BMR turbo-K's based on a quick search. I should be able to correct it tomorrow night, it'll just take some elbow grease, bourbon, and maybe some swearing.

the trick with the swearing is knowing the right sequence of cuss words. i like to throw a few german ones in there to mix it up.

loosen all the bolts up, ratchet strap that bitch into place, tighten the v band clamp while tapping around the clamp. drink bourbon, just save a little of that corn juice for the car
