Default coil location

so I am working on my fabbed up 6l lq4 with upside down corvette manifold twin setup

it comes to mind that there is no way the spark plug wires will fit between the head and manifolds even with heat sleeves

so what are you manifold guys doing with your coils - where are you locating the coils if you are moving them, and are you making up plug wires and coil harness extensions etc etc
picture if you have them please
thanks
Ken

If you are saying there is no room at all...a picture would also help.

Saying there is no way the spark plug wires will fit is fairly unambiguous.

Either there is room and you need wire options, or there is no room and you need to take a different manifold approach.

yikes, so the manifolds are ultimately too tight for the wires to fit through to sit in their stock locations on top of the valve covers. I believe their is a kit that seats them alongside the engine block. I will look for the kit, but I do not remember the name of that particular kit. If anyone else can help with the name, that would be greatly appreciated

What if you mounted the coils low on the block then ran all the wires back towards the firewall then up and along the top of the manifolds? They would "approach" the plugs like a gen 1 sbc. The wires would be different lengths, but I don't think it'd matter.

Just made these over the weekend. Not bad, folded a 3-1/2 piece of Al into a U shape and then inserted threaded rod with PVC spacers.

Had to make spark plug wires to. . Started with a set of LT1 wires and cut them to the desired length.

I also spent a considerable amount of time building the coil to PCM/power feed wires too.

I did it because I don't like them on valve covers. The wiring took the longest.

The LT1 z28 wires are super long have the correct ends for the LS coils. You can heat tape a metal hangar to the wire and position the wire any way you need and it will stay in that position. I've actually just made a big circle around upside down forward facing manifolds using this method with the coils mounted to the VC's.

You can buy wire, crimps, pretty much anything you need to make wires yourself if nobody offers a factory made solution

I couldn't find any. Yes it was a major PITA

You can buy a set for HEI or distributer and then by the coil terminal/boots separate from taylor but it gets pricey quick.

I don't understand why no one makes a reasonable priced make your own kit for coils. The MSD kit is ridiculously pricey for no good reason.

MSD kit when I bought it wasnt expensive ? I think my current Firecore wires cost more

Or they sell the correct coil crimps too.

Nothing difficult about doing a set DIY
