Question Valve Cover Breather w/o Filter

I picked up a valve cover breather not realizing it did not have a filter element inside. Is that something that's really going to be an issue? I'm just not sure if it's really relevant.

My passenger side valve cover is vented to atmosphere with no filter or anything and has never caused an issue. I really don't think it's a big deal.
