Default Single vs twin turbo on an LS2

From my understanding, the advantages a twin turbo system has over a single is:
-less lag
-more efficient for V engines like an LS
-easier to fit in engine bay (apparently there isnt always room for a big single)
advantages of a big single being:
-easier to maintain
-more torque
-cheaper
-more max power?
I was wondering if a big single turbo might be better for more of a drag racing application. The turbo lag isnt a big issue since i would want to daily drive it without going into boost every time i change lanes, and at a strip it would be screaming at 6k rpm the whole time. Thoughts?

Are you building it yourself?

I think I have actually decided to go single. I do my own systems & I think I have decided to do a log set-up mounting the turbo on the drivers side. I decided this for two main reasons; I want easy plug access & I want to easily retain my A/C.

Looks like if I relocate the module down by the frame & go to a different coolant tank & hose routing there should be enough room to run a 3.5" downpipe under the header.

Yes, i will be building it myself, and i think im going to go with the single just like you said. ive found 3 single turbo gto builds that kept AC doing basically what you described, and for a budget daily car i think its going to be optimal

Thats funny you say that. I am building a single, but now, I wish I would have done a twin build. I know the GTO's are a tight fit, and actually, so is a S10. The problem I have, is on a single, fitting a crossover. The crossover is best suited in the front on my configuration. The problem is, the steering box, shaft and accessories are in the way. If I had done twins, the piping would go out toward the fenders on each side, and the downpipe would go almost where the exhaust is normally on my swap.

I also want to maintain A/C, and so based on that, I can not run my crossover under the back, because then on a single, there is no room for a downpipe with the A/C box and the crossover, so actually, there is more room with twins. I did not know that at the time of purchasing parts, or I would have planned better. Sometimes you just don't know, what you don't know.

Packaging will be the biggest concern as mentioned above. They will all make power and not be too laggy if the combo is right.

Youre right that GTOs are a tight fit, but from all the builds ive seen theres a fair amount of room to run a crossover in front! Ill be sure to test it with some scrap pipe, probably mock all i can up to make sure i have it planned out. No room for a rear crossoover because the downpipe wouldnt fit like you said on the s10, and i do like the idea of twin downpipes facing pretty much at factory exhaust location. Only problem i see with twins is boost pressure loss having to run the charge pipe so long, that and my budget. Good luck on the s10 build, that exhaust pipe looks great
