Default Pump gas and Meth vs. straight e85

I keep hearing that pump gas is so dangerous to use, when you wanna make big power, e85 is a must. Now im making around 1k hp, running 93pump and dual nozzles spraying meth (alky control). I havent seen any problems thus far, and would like someone to explain on here if there would be an advantage of me switching to e85. Because i feel that my current setup is just as safe as running only e85. But maybe I'm wrong?

Your peak power tuning window is larger with e85. You have TONS more alky in the cylinders with e85. How much methanol are you spraying? What pressure? What pump?

I run 93/100% meth and also run e85. All done with a flex fuel setup. Keeps me safe on pump and everything fine when the tune adjust to e85.

And what are they saying is dangerous about it ?

If the setup is built and tuned to suit 93, then it will be perfectly safe with 93.

Of course you could say that for any fuel...any failures you'll hear of are simply down to bad builds or tuning ( excluding ctual faults of course which can kill any engine )

E85 is not a must, but IF it is readily available and your fuel system can accommodate it then it is a better base fuel to be using from the perspective of making power.
But then you may need a higher CR ( or more boost ) to actually see the gains from the fuel, as a pump fuel setup should have a lower CR which again comes back to the build aspect.

Just run the Meth. You would need a lot more pump to fuel the additional flow required for E85. The offset in cost wouldn't make it worth it. Increasing to 100% meth and pump gas should be good esp if your safe already. You can mix your own high % with "HEET" from auto zone etc (100% meth) with distilled water or run wiper fluid (only blue -20 stuff) which is a 30% mix.

Interesting posts, I have been thinking of adding some kind of spray, meth, wiper fluid, etc-i run 93 now, and an IC'er, but haven't really leaned on it to hard with the new engine-where and what are you guys using for meth, and how long does it stay "good" in your tank-I know you can buy some stuff in gallons
And how hard is it to figure out the right amt, I am guessing there has been enough people using it there are some starting points.
Thanks

Most inject just for the water to help with detonation... using it as a fuel source its not as efficient. 100% meth is a pretty decent hit of "fuel" but the water is a better conductor of heat in the air stream and detonation suppression. -20 wiper fluid is a nice mix of meth/water 30/70% which is good for all around cooling purposes and cheap and comes pre mixed at less than $2 a gallon. Its cheaper to mix your own with "HEET" or buy 100% meth in 5 gallon containers etc. Then you can make your own percentage for your application. I'm not sure but 1 bottle of HEET and wiper fluid should be the same as 50/50 mix if not alittle higher and is less than $5 a gallon total.

Most meth tanks are vented to allow air to displace fluid as its used like a gas tank. Its not "open" to air all the time allowing the meth to evaporate. I wouldn't leave it in any longer than gas would tend to go bad. 6 months to 1 year maybe?

Most tune the meth based off predicted whp or at least my snow kit is. the nozzle i'm using is good for 375-550 whp and most tune for .5 drop in A/F ratio when it hits. So tune for 11.5:1 and then when the meth hits you gain the extra .5:1 so it goes to 11:1 lets just say for example. Of course this is dependent on your meth % and your combo/jet/motor etc.

What ever vendor you go with, they should be able to answer all your questions. I like the devils-own brand. They have calculators on their website for a good starting point on nozzle size.

Cheapest by far to buy a few gallons of straight methanol and mix your own. Buying heet or any companies pre-made fluids is usually 10x as expensive.
