Wish I had the hood clearance for that TBSS intake, which looks EXACTLY like any other later model truck intake. Can anybody confirm that this is the case, cause if so that intake can be had for CHEAP!!!

Edit - is it possible that the TBSS intake did better than some of the other intakes b/c of the larger throttle body? I'd reduce it down to the smaller truck TB anyway so maybe the gains would be wiped out over the regular truck intake.

I just saw one of these eBay intakes in person last weekend. The plenum is paper thin, and flexes easily when you press on it. It's total garbage. Having handled a sniper intake, there's a night and day comparison in quality, and materials.
You sure about that? The throttle body flange is what gives it away that it's the same SLP manifold. Holley also has the fuel rail pics up and it's the same no name hose and fittings. I am still surprised Holley put their name on this product.

They guy selling on ebay has one on his turbo 6.0. Google Turbo LY6 T-type.

The 20 intake test did identify the TBSS as being different than the regular truck manifold.

The TBSS and the newer style truck intake are the same. I've measured the port sizes, etc. The actual TBSS manifold came with a larger TB than the newer trucks, but the same TB will fit the new trucks as well.

Ron, if you take a good look at the dyno comparisons, the TBSS had more average power and torque than the Pro-Flo. This is even considering the fact that the TBSS had died off 500 RPM or so earlier than the Pro-Flo, which kept pulling to 7000 RPM. For someone like me with a 6400 RPM limiter and smaller cubes, the TBSS would likely outperform the Pro-Flo everywhere throughout the rev range.

100% sure. I had a sniper I take for my car but decided to go with the hi ram instead because I'm going to run that 417 racing intercooler in it instead.

They're a night and day diffrence. The Holley is stout, the eBay one, not so much.

The Holley is thicker aluminum and the plenum is tapered. The taper makes is a dead giveaway that it's different.

Let's see pics of yours. The Holley website does not show an angles TB flange. The runners, TB flange, head flanges, and fuel rails look identical. I get that there are slight differences but I would be very surprised if it was not made in the same place the SLP one was made. It should perform identical also.

Already returned it. Google image search it, there's a few different pics from different angles on it.

Theres a whole lot that goes into it other than having a really similar setup as someone else.

My car has gone 5.70s in the 1/8 mile with a stock 5.3
A friend of mine with a very similar setup has gone 5.20s
That half second is an *** kicking in any race...lol

Not trying to bust your *****, just hoping you realize its a real tall order to run bottom 8s/bottom 5s with a stock 5.3

I really don't think you get the picture. I think you've been way off topic this whole thread. I can give a .02 less what the hell the car runs. I've got a ******* junk *** 5.3 laying around. Just like I've got 36,378.67 laying in one of my savings accounts. I was going to do a 427 twin lsx build. Instead I've decided I'm going to put the majority of my money in to my house and finish my basement. You've had a hard on ever sense I've said 5.3 and like to see top 5 fastest in the chassis I'm putting it in. I've got more in my life then living around a drag strip and a forum. And like I've stated once before it's not a destiny or a EXPECTATION. It's something I'm shooting for. If it hits it great.... if it don't I don't give a rats ***. I'm rolling the dice with houses money. I'll throw the wall at this bitch. Why? Because 450.00 motor is like 4 dollars to me. I said (budget) build because I'm using a junk yard motor and have budgeted myself to 15,000. If 5.3 blows I might just call up a junk yard and go get me another... Hell I might just call up LMR and tell them to build me a LSX good for 40 lbs. So with that all being said... "not trying to bust your *****" I can give a Fuq... less. It is what it is... it will be what it will be.... My family and work come first. My hobby 3rd.

$450 to replace a JY motor could turn into $20K to replace a car or $100K to repair your back if it blows at the big end of the track and oils down your tires.

Since you seem financially wise, I would keep that in the back of your mind also or invest in a diaper.

This...

The sniper intakes are in house Holley designs, and have been pressure tested for lots of boost...

Either way, it will still be the case that for most, when operating below 7k....any factory style intake whether truck or LS6 will still outperform it.

Of course when they release various back to back graphs of testing, we can see for real.
