Default Anyone use this sheet metal intake?

Just curious to know if anyone know who is making this particular intake or how well it works.? Quality looks really good. Was going to use pro flo until I saw this...

I bought one of these manifolds for an LS3 and found that the intake surfaces were machined at a different angle than than the cyl head. Therefore, the gaskets would not have sealed. It looks like the same manifold although I got it from a different supplier. I sent it back for a refund. If you decide to purchase, check it out asap so that there won't be any issues if the item has to be returned.

It's the same intake Holley seem to be re-selling as their Sniper intake.

From the recent 20 normally aspirated intake test that has been floating around...unless you're looking to run mostly in the 7000rpm and upwards range.....most other intakes performed better below 7k. Which is where most engine spend most of their time.

They posted the dyno sheet on the eBay page. Didn't perform that great vs a stock LS1 manifold on a big cam 6.0. Results on a 5.3 will be even less spectacular.

The pro-flo outperforms it a lot

Yeah I kinda saw that myself. Being forced induction I was thinking cheapest way possible as it already being a budget build. But realistically pro flo isn't much more. So might just buck up!

Budget build?

My #1 recommendation for a strong budget build is the TBSS or 08+ Truck intake.
Unbelievable performer for the money.

I'd like or let me rephrase that... I'm hoping and trying to shoot for top 5 fastest stock bottom end 5.3s right now. I'm keeping it hush hush on build as I have a few grudges to settle around here and don't want much leaking out. But it will be going in a extremely light car. After I settle up on some things I might do a build thread on the car. I just might save the money and run the truck intake that's on it if people are really having that much success with em, even though i think they're ugly. Put the money else where.

Pretty sure there are several stock ls1 intakes in the 7s

You want to build one of the fastest 5.3s...and you want to use an ebay intake??

Id definitely save the money for other things, youll need to run 7.9-8.0s next year if you want one of the fastest sbe 5.3s

It is not the same intake. Only thing they have in common is they're sheet metal. On the sniper intakes, the tb flange is angled down, as well the the plenum narrows towards the back. Holley puts out good stuff, don't confuse people unless you're 100% sure.

I just saw one of these eBay intakes in person last weekend. The plenum is paper thin, and flexes easily when you press on it. It's total garbage. Having handled a sniper intake, there's a night and day comparison in quality, and materials.

Joe, given the torque curve of the TBSS, vs the Pro Flow, I almost wonder if it would perform better in the 1/4 mile.
Food for thought.

it's as close to the same as doesnt make a damned bit of difference and it will behave the same.

ie worse than almost every other intake below 7k.

Yeah there are a lot of fast ones out there. It's something I'm shooting for. Guess it's a goal with this not a EXPECTATION. If I do hit it great. If I don't I'm surely not going to go hang myself in the closet and blame it on depression. Real facts are I have a good chance. Reason being a guy here locally off this forum last summer hit mid 8s in a VERY similar car. Yes he had a BUILT 6.0l but he was running a 88mm on 16 lbs with only 11 degrees of timing in it. He ran it on 91 pump. EXTREMELY conservative with built motor. He trapped upper 150s and had a very soft 1.48 60ft. Do to foot braking the car and I believe issue with trans brake. He had no 2 step in the car. I know the car was easily good for 1.2X 60s and realistically with the tire and suspension he had with a trans brake and 2 step capable of 1.1X 60 ft times. He had plenty of tire to do it. And here's the kicker... was ran at 6314 DA. Thing I will be fighting is the elevation here. So... will see.
