Default Turbo timers

Hi All
Any of you FI Guys and or Gals using turbo timers on the domestic scene? I was wondering if you thought of them as a usefull tool or too "ricerish"... I have just turbo'd my AWD silverado SS with the STS kit and like the idea of just getting out of the truck and not having to sit there letting the truck idling for a minute or so...

Your impressions?

i would have no concerns with a STS kit and decent oil to feel the need to run a turbo timer

You should be fine without the Turbo timer. I drive a Silverado SS with the turbo under the hood and it has no problems. I have been driving this truck for about three weeks 2000 miles with no trouble.

I got one just to let the turbo have time to cool. coked oil in the turbo makes life suck, so $89 investment isn't so bad.

If you use synthetic oil you won't need one.

I got the A'pexi Auto Timer from a friend who owns his own parts biz so it was bit cheaper than the usual $98.

you don't need one........ unless you like making 1/4 miles passes/dynoing and then shutting the engine off right after you cross the line/finish, everything will be cool enough by the time you get back to your pit. Same goes for street driving.... just normal driving, you can shut the car off like you normally would..... but if you have a straight stretch right before you turn off into your work, like I do , then you might want to let it idle for just a few secs after a 3rd-4th gear pull.
