Default New short block for F1A

Finally getting around to picking out my new short block. I'm looking into the L33/383ci from TMS. So far, I've decided on Diamond -10cc Pistons w/ Total Seal ring upgrade, I Beam rods w/ ARP 2000 rod bolts, ARP main studs and the Melling oil pump.

The main goal with this motor is to break into the 8's and call it quits! I'm done spending money on this thing. Here's a list of parts I already have...
AFR 225 72cc Heads (milled/cleaned up 2x) 71-70cc or so
Brute Speed blower cam
ARP head studs
Comp pushrods and LS7 lifters
Cloyes timing gear/chain
F1A Procharger w/FMIC, 7.65 crank pulley and 5.25 charger pulley
Alky Control meth kit:
(Ordered Dual nozzle kit M15)
FTI Level 4.5 TH400
Strange 12 bolt w/ 3.42 gear and spool
Lingenfelter 2 step
LS6 intake and Ported (Stock) TB
All fuel upgrades, suspension, etc......
I'll upgrade to bigger injectors, currently SD 60's w/ Walbro 450 pump.
Might also grab the 8.65 CBR crank pulley while everything is apart.
(CBR 8.65 pulley and 4.38 Procharger pulley are here)

Trying to decide on head gasket/compression. I'm figuring it up and getting around 9.5 or 9.6:1. This is assuming my heads are about 71cc, using -10 pistons and headgasket in the .051 area. Thinking about getting Cometic gaskets to raise compression to 9.7 or 9.8:1. I don't think it should be too risky getting near the 10:1 range, any thoughts?

I've got a basic build thread on here somewhere, I'll find the link. Need to make a decison and purchase everything. I change my mind on this motor everyday! My second and more expensive choice was the ERL 427 dry sleeve short block. They do offer a military discount, but still would be about $2k more.

Mike, shoot me a pm on what you're spending on the shortblock and I'll see what I can do an an ERL dry sleeve for you. Bob

10.1:1-10.2:1 is perfectly fine. What fuel are you planning to run?

Well, I ordered the TMS L33 I mentioned in the first post.

Here's a question, what's the power limit on the Walbro 450? I think it should get 800whp or so.
I know I need to replace my SD 60's. My thinking is upgrade injectors, buy the CBR 8.65 crank pulley and see where that gets me. All other fuel items are upgraded (FPR, feed line, rails, etc).

When in doubt, get more pump. For anything over 700hp, I would be running two of those Walbro 450's, with one on a boost reference hobb's switch. Especially with the bigger crank pulley being added. As for your static compression ratio... focus on using whatever head gasket thickness gives you the best quench, and whatever static compression you get is whatever it happens to be. Proper squish will be more important than half a point of static compression one way or another.

What size fuel lines do you have Mike? Bob

10AN feed and 8AN to FAST fuel rails. Aeromotive fuel filter and FPR. Decided to use stock feed line for the return . I still have SD 60 imjectors until I upgrade.

The car made 650 on the dyno with stock fuel lines, 340lph pump and the 4L60E.

You might run into a problem with the stock feed line being used for the return if you run a large fuel pump, and drive long distances. I've seen it happen before, a lot of times it takes a -10 return to keep the fuel from overheating. Bob

That motor is worth more than my car! It's above my pay grade.

My motor arrived today! I had them delay the shipping a few days because I was on vacation. Now it's time to order oil pan and a few other parts. Hoping someone out there will have a sale soon.

I will have a couple parts for sale when I get them back, Melling oil pump 10296 & ARP head studs 234-4110.

Injector recommendations needed.
TMS 383
F1A Procharger spinning to 74k, maxed out, at 6950 rpm. I'm thinking I need at 100# injectors to be safe. Currently looking at Fuel Injector Clinic. This car should make at least 800, hopefully.

I'd go with ID1000s. That's what I'm running.
