Default Whats everyone using for V bands on their hotside?

Ive done the searches but am not coming up with the answer I'm looking for. Im going to be welding V bands on truck manifolds and running a 2.25 hotside. What brand or place, does everyone use? Thanks!

racepartssolutions

They h;ve some nice little features like interlocking areas machined in for fit up and stops machined in for pipe depth. Also, they can be run with or without o rings depending on hot or cold side use.

I just installed a couple from Vibrant-I was pretty impressed with them-usually its a 3 hand job trying to install them, but with these you can start the nut on the tee bolt, then the other end has a catch that flips over the tee part, so it allows the v band to hold while you tighten it-hope that makes sense, lol

Thank you for the replies. The racecarpartssolutions looks like I would have to run stainless to get the size i want. Is that fine when welding to manifolds and mild steel hotside? I do like the machining that they have on them.
The obx look like I could get in mild steel.
I see the vibrant ones are in summit and about half the price of the racecarpartssolutions.
Is there a preference in material that everyone is running?
I do want to order the flange and band in one I would figure.
I might even switch to a 2.00 hotside. Im doing a twin scroll style to a t6 480 etr ho.

Two inch hot side; spool is better, V bands are cheaper, smaller tubing is easier to fit...win,win,win.

Yes stainless works fine welded to your regular steel pipes. If they are aluminized just grind that **** off before you weld.

Give me one example of a pro that the flat flanges have vs. the ones that have registers.

Being able to lap BOTH flanges with a file for a 100% flat surface

Yea i like the flat flanges as well. I slip the exahaust tubing out one side about 1/2" so that slips in the other side to lock them together. Helps line them up to tighten. Basicly holds themselves together. Win win!!

Use flat flanges, and slide one of them on so your piping sticks out of the end of it by 1/4" or so. Works great to keep them aligned.

This will be my first time welding these. Is one better for a novice? I thought the machined lip on the racecarpartssolutions vband make it a no brainer on having it lined up and square all the way around.

Would you guys show pics of your work? Especially with the difference in the machined and flat flanges?

Thanks guys!

Why wouldn't you just buy that already machined into the flanges?

You are correct, the flanges with registers are a no brainer. Lapping flat flanges is a complete waist of a lot of time.

I prefer the flat ones as well. I have TIG welded several sets now, and no matter what I do, they still will still warp a bit. A flat file works great at getting them true again, you can't do that with the ones that have a lip on them (unless you grind the lip off).

I use the flat flanges that slide over the pipe as well. Have used both.

For fitup it makes it easier as you can slide it +- 1" or so. Also When building a kit myself i find it far easier with only one set of hands to get them slid over the pipe and have the kit in place while i grab the clamp. I can usually set it on with no clamp at all and it stays in place.
