Ethanol Content and actual results
I originally started blending to get rid of the black goo... Which it does. The other stuff is just side benefits, especially the lack of consumption
Couple years ago on my old 10:1 motor I forgot to turn on my intercooler pump on for a pass. Full timing in of 21* on e50 it was fine, car slowed down a couple mph but no damage or rattle. Just as well of been no IC
I've never had any black goo and mine has sat for at least a month at a time on several occasions.
tune stays the same all year round, might get a tad richer with less alcohol. but never see any Kr or any other differences.
I don't check it, but other racers do. It measures 87%.
I just hope they keep selling it. With gas so cheap, and not many here using E85, if it goes away I won't be surprised. That would be sad.
I also see ethanol fuel mentioned in the latest round of politics.....I haven't investigated. Something about the ethanol mandate vs Ted Cruz. Dunno.
I know the price here doesn't follow gas.
What's it doing where you guys are?

The mixing idea is very interesting to me also. We have 91 octane pure unleaded now at the Stewarts in the area. I may look into mixing it with E85 as Forcefed86 suggested and see what happens. Worst case hopefully the Holley system will compensate if there is an issue.
Same price as regular unleaded...

Ultimately, the plugs will tell.
I figure if peak rich power on e85 is 10.5 AFR on gas scale (.71 lambda) it’s better to have a little more fuel in the CC at the higher boost levels.
