Well, the guy with the ls2 flaked on me and the guy with the gen 3 6.0 isn't going to workout either. So now I'm back to trying to find someone with one. I was hoping to get that ls2.

Is this a recommendation or a must do?

A recommendation of you want my opinion. Yea, it will be unbalanced. Lots of guys here have pushed a gen 3 crank and gen 4 pistons/rods over 700whp.

I have seen where plenty of guys have a bad vibration when it isn't balanced.

LS2 is a pretty tough motor. I thought I had heard that the LS2 block itself is one of the stronger units out there.

I have a question? How can you tell the difference from a gen 3 crank and a gen 4 crank? They all have the same casting number 12552216 and it is even the same number as the ls1, but the ls1 has the gun drilled crank.

So can anyone tell me how to tell the difference? My ls1 has the 12552216, has anyone ever used one in a 6.0 or can it be some? I k ow the earlier cranks only had the 7 digit 1255216, so these new ones all have the same numbers, so there has to be a way to tell if there is a difference?

Find a shop that does forced induction cars, as in a shop that has done hundreds of them, and ask what combo you can use to achieve your goals.

As many have already stated, the Gen IV engines have made the power levels you are after with untouched factory internals. All you need is a good tuner to make sure it becomes reliable. I cannot stress that enough. Good luck.

I was reading through your posts here, and I agree about finding a good tuner, and Steck was great, but Shane Hinds is also a great tuner, and he is local. Too bad I didn't read this yesterday, I just sold off a nice Gen III 6.0 cheap.

I'm pretty picky with tuners and do a lot of research before I take my car to them. I'm not bashing Shane at all, or anyone else for that matter, but I just didn't find anyone around here that I felt comfortable with.

I actually just picked up a gen 4 6.0 long block that had two spun rod bearings 3 days ago for $450. Tore it all apart, honed it and just dropped the crank off to be turned. I'm having him check all the rods for me when I get the heads and everything hot tanked.

I think I got a pretty good deal on it.

This is a bit old, but...
Big Chief from Street Outlaws just flew Shane Hinds to OKC so he could tune his CTSV. Shane also has the fastest CTSV in the country. You might want to check into him a little more.
