The car in question that I autopsied the failure on was a Corvette with several weight removal mods. This is, however, irrelevant, because the failure was on a dyno. I think if my recall is correct, that we loaded the dyno for less than 3000#s, but I may be wrong. The clutch held until the last 50hp. Pulling the baffles out of the side pipes was the straw that broke the clutches back.

Well thats something i dont like to hear, do you have a PN on that clutch ? I know they make a few types of DF clutches when i asked them they said it should be good for about 650 to the tire in a 2900 lb car

For what it's worth I run that exact turbo in a 5.3l fc and I cannot disagree with anything said here. The turbo is pretty much all in at 3500 rpm and done by 6k. Made 680rwhp on 15lbs but fell off very hard past 6k.

New turbo is on my list of things as soon as I can get a good dragrace coil over on up front.

what turbo ? do you have a build thread ?

i don't plan on spinning it past 6k and full spool by 3500 rpm is what id love, throw a turbo cam and a smaller crossover on there (2.25) and could prob spool a bit quicker

Yes, the motor will live forever at 600 whp.

Thanks but no way am i going to throw some china crap on there

I would like to go with a BW unit the s472 with 1.10 is what ill probably pull the plug on. They just seem to hard to beat for the price and serviceability is readily available. From what ive read i should have full spool by 3500 with the right cam and tune maybe even quicker. I know the gears in the car are super short right now but i will eventually go 8.8 with a 3.55 or something a bit taller
