TT 68 Camaro project Resurrection! *8.1@170*
I decided to update my 68 big block Camaro to an LS twin turbo combo. I bought the car back after 13 years last September and tore it apart in November. The whole build so far took me about 10 months but the car is back up and running again so I thought I would post a build thread.
Old combo:
461ci Big block Chevy
Dart 325cc aluminum heads
Forged bottom end with 10 to 1 compression
Lunati solid lifter cam
850cfm Holley carb
MSD 7al ignition
BG400 pump
TCI TH 400 trans
4500 rpm TCI converter
9" rear with 4.33 gears
8 point roll bar
3" dual exhaust out the back with Flowmaster mufflers
Weight without me in it was 3233 pounds
Car was a street car with full interior and ran on pump gas. This combo ran a best of 10.8 @ 123mph
New combo:
365ci LS engine
Trickflow 225cc heads
Forged bottom end with 9.5 compression
LJMS Stage 2 cam
Holley Dominator EFI
160lb injectors
MF 4303 pump
BTE glide with 1.8 first gear
Yank PY3400 converter
9" rear with 3.50 gears
12 point cage
3.5" exhaust exiting by the rear tires with bullets
Twin Borg Warner S366 turbos
JGS wastegates and blow off valve
Weight without me in it 3114 pounds
Car is a street car with full interior running on E85. Numbers coming soon!

Cleaned and painted the front frame section. Installed the new tubular control arms, Uni-steer manual rack and Strange front brakes. Welded in the new upper rear shock crossmember and made the new floor. My buddy Jeremy made me a new custom fuel cell and I installed that along with a new Moroso battery box.

Had the roll bar upgraded to a 12 point cage. I had the front bars tucked up under the fenders for maximum clearance for the turbos and exhaust. My wife actually did all the hard work inside wire brushing and cleaning the floors then painting them a fresh coat of black.

Installed the Holley Dominator in the glove box area. I had to modify the glove box door for clearance, but it still works like stock. Installed the Magnafuel 4303 pump in the trunk. I will eventually install a second pump when this one runs out of volume since I am running on E85.

Just a little carnage. A quick reminder to pay attention when you are working on a car even if it's something you have done 1000 times before and ALWAYS use jack stands!
I was jacking the front end up but not watching under the car like I usually do. I was thinking about what I had to do once the car was off the ground. Next thing I know the car comes crashing down. I thought the jack popped a seal but what actually happened is the car slipped off the jack. The radiator and support didn't make out so well but I was lucky the intercooler didn't get hurt also.

Those are Dynomax 3.5 inch bullets. Straight through design with holes drilled inside unlike some that are punched out or louvered which looks like they would cause turbulence or a restriction. Just about everyone that hears the car comments how quiet it is.

Nice work and lucky that you were able to find the old car! I attempted to find my old 72 Chevelle that I sold and had no luck. If you haven't thought about it, I'd definitely support those turbos. Also, I'm not sure if you will or not, but the gate placement isn't the best, you may run into boost control issues.
