Default on3 78/75 5.3 new build track times.

we decided my buddys 5.3 turbo truck was never going to run the numbers we wanted so we put the engine in his 75 Camaro to get the feel for just how well these 5.3 turbos run.

the car is a heavy big tire car with a 3.73 gear spool 31 by 14 slick.400 trans and 3800 stall. car is 3550 with him in it.

2005 5.3 rings gapped , isky triple 12 cam degreed to Jarret's specs, stock heads , truck intake , 80# injectors , microsquirt custom hot side by me as the on3 **** does not fit the car and cracks every outher day. 2.5

on3 78 /75 turbo 3" downpipe no muffler as it got ripped off loading on the trailer

best run of day

1.37 60' 4000 rpm launch control launch
6.05 @114 mph 1/8 mile
9.44 @ 140 mph.

20.3 psi boost
15 degrees timing
e85 10.8 afr gas scale .

that 78/75 turbo really gets it done. hard to use anything else in a car running high nines or slower

Awesome news, I just purchased the billet version 78/75 from vs racing, I can't wait to try it out. Thank you very much for the results. Any idea on spool rpm, and what size crossover are you using?

im going to do some work on the nova over the winter . a second fuel pump and some suspension work and I should be in better shape.

its hard to run with a big tire car at a low prep track though.

Was this up at Lapeer? How strict are they on the rules? I have been going down to Milan to run, but Lapeer is about the same distance from my house. Milan has been rather lax on the rules the few times I have been there.

they will let you slide some. my brother ran 10.30s before they shut him down for no roll bar. in his Silverado.

but I like the fact you can make 15 runs if you want to with no waiting.

we logged the runs and the iat is getting to 136* so it might take some more timing as well. we were 15* at boost.

these things are a lot of fun for sure.

How can you argue with a j/k engine and a "cheaper" turbo with those kind of results?

yes it is a microsquirt .im not positive on heads but they were stock on it from the 2005 Silverado. i'll find out .

were pretty sure there is a couple tenths left with the current tune/boost . the engine was running in the truck 2 weeks ago and this was the first outing with it in the Camaro. but the Camaro is known to work and get good et,s with any engine in it.

the triple 12 was pulling good to 6600 in the logs. good cam.

I run two external AEM 380 pumps on my Nova. At 16.7-17 psi on E85 they show no signs of giving up. My DC is around 86% @ 11.5 AFR with 80# injectors flowing 660 lbs/hr. of fuel. Good pumps IMO.
