Default First passes in a year

Hey guys,

Been awhile.
All I wanted to do was add the LJMS 5.3 piston/rod combo to the L33 and turn it up a bit.
Delivered the short block in Feb, disassembled of course, asked for it back in May. Got it back late August..........

Put the puzzle back together in time for the third wettest October in Oregon history.

But we got one dry day, the last race day of the season. Last night.

So, got to race. I was rusty as hell!

Here is a video. Best pass of the night. 9.45 at 146.7x. Not earth shattering, slippery track, short shifted at 6000, and I'll stop with the excuses!

See if this works

I did add Viking DA shocks up front.

You cant just rush these engine builds, lol
I was wondering if you had gotten back out, not bad for the conds.
I may go today, be the first time for the Buick, not sure the brakes are
good enough for 1/4, but I just want some data to take into the winter.

Thanks guys,

Running the M/T 9x28 pro bracket radials.
On a good track they dead hook.

I'm going to get some used 275 pro's with 60% left to drive around on. My current BFG radials on the rear are 20 years old.......

Now that the season is over, I'd like to put it on the dyno and see how it's doing hp wise. The used pro's will be ok for that.

I tune cars and run a chassis dyno for a living now. But haven't had mine on there yet!

Gears are 3.42

the 275 pro's are big . bigger than a regular 275 they fit if you center them but will rub on the outside and the inside if you turn hard.

My wheel wells are modified to be 1" wider to the outside. It's subtle when looking at the car. I'll mount one up and see!
Thanks!

I want an 8 second pass. I know it's done on stock bottom end deals all the time. But when they go boom, usually destroys the block and L33 are hard to find.
Now I'm not going to be afraid to turn it up to 25 psi.

PM sent

Car is fast hoss! I don't think you will have much issue collecting an 8 second slip.

Made me smile to see your car running again. Looking forward to your spring progress! Pass looked smooth, which is important given the conditions and not being on a track in a year.

There was a guy at the local track who hadn't been out in a year. Last day of the year of course. First pass dragged the bumper and never lifted. Nothing like easing into it!

Thanks guys, Got behind the eight ball getting the short block back so late. I'm an old fart and move slow on assembly.

Looked close at my logs, and noted the batt voltage was 12.5 going down track. Engine felt off......rpm was not soild and I could feel it.
So I'll rewire the car over the winter. Add a new battery a much better alternator.

I'm not afraid to turn it up now.

I highly doubt it will ever be a 4.8 Mustang (gag me) hero running low 8's.
Just want to hit my goal.
It is after all a low buck popcorn fart 5.3.

I noticed on my logs the volts were a little over 14, at around 6K they were 13.7-i use a vet front acces. drive, bought it used off Ebay, so no telling the miles-I would imagine at night racing with all the lights on, it could go lower.
Being an old fart, no way I would run at night again-just driving is bad enough, lol

Nice to see it out again! What did you end up with as far as a piston/rod/bore/compression? Did I miss it, or did no one asked what the boost level was on the 147 pass?

Pistons are the LJMS Wiseco's. Really nice thin ring package. .020" overbore.
Rods are Compstar.
LJMS says 9.75:1 CR. I didn't CC it all out to check.

Boost was 19 PSI. Same settings I ran 9.21@149 a year ago.
I do note that the map varies from 222-230kpa. Do you guys see a flat line?

carefully looking at the logs, the rpm trace is very jagged. So something going on there. That's what I was feeling I'm sure.

That's about a 1psi variation. What type of boost controller are you using?

Just a manual ****. Ball and spring type.
i have a TruBoost II to install. I imagine that will keep it more consistent.
