I guess the question is more what are your goals for the setup, Turbo's are a part of the equation, the components of the system needs to be configured to complement each other, do you have an overall design plan. Turbonetics has just released there all new designed turbo's and a new version labeled NRE ( nelson racing engines ) which come in mirrored version for twin turbo applications. I am currently in the design phase of my twin turbo system and following ( camarols1 ) design.

What kind of power/powerband could one expect from these at 8 psi on a 5.3? Not all of us want to install a cage and run 8's. I just miss my 11-second turbo Buick ... The internal wastegate is not as pretty but packages easily.
Also, when you guys generally recommend xx mm turbos, are you talking about inducer or exducer size? And then how does the A/R affect the combination? I could have started a new thread but this one was old and seemed appropriate, since the OP question was never answered.

Just buy a 7875 single and be done with it. It's cheaper, easier, and it'll do exactly what you want. You really haven't specified goals or told us what else is done to the car so you can't just expect us to say "yep, that setup will work".
Noted. How about a Turbonetics T76 I have on hand from a past build? 67mm turbine, 1.30 A/R. What will work better on a stock L33, this T76 or a pair of smaller twins? Or the suggested 7875?
Street use only, track a couple times a year, no cage. Supporting mods obviously. Maybe it would be best to abandon the Sexy Twin idea and keep it simple!

Of course. Any idea how many threads and opinions there are on 5.3 turbo combos? Hundreds. Your brain starts turning to mush after the first 20. And most of them talk about wanting 800-1800hp, a lot using E85 (practically nonexistent in Canada.) I found one that was generally close to my question and had no action, thought I'd follow up on it. I didn't start the thread.
After years of dealing with turbo Buicks I'm finding that the LS motors and the newest turbo technology has rendered most of my past turbo knowledge obsolete and/or irrelevant. Almost starting over, trying to relate back to V6 stuff.
As for the car, the 70 GTO is around 36-3800 lbs, I will probably run the 200-4r since it's built pretty well already, with a 3.42 or 3.55 gear. Stock CR L33. Common practice with the 5.3 turbo seems to be to add an LS6 cam and intake and proper fueling and call it done. So that's my general plan. I like the sexiness of twins but probably a single will do what I want and be easier and cheaper. In short, I love the style and feel of the GTO but miss that ol turbo BOOST of the Buick....

Blacksix, Did you research the sloppy mechanics wiki page? I'm sure Matt would say run what you got if that's all you can afford. 1st that's the wrong cam for a twin turbo car. Depending on the power level of the boosted 5.3 I doubt seriously the 200-4r will live long. Here are the stock specs for the 200-4r, 200-4r weight 157 Lb, Maximum Engine HP 330,Maximum Engine Torque 550, Maximum vehicle weight 6000, Yes these can be built to handle more, But Matt runs his stock 4L80E with over 1074 Hp and 1027 Tq. Do you know what the HP loss is thru your 200-4r ? Matt (DENMAH) has been boosting cars over 10 years on a budget a very small budget and has built some very impressive cars. My advise at this time is pick one of Matt's builds and copy it, he has already done all the research and made all the mistakes so you don't have to, He even provides you with the tune on this WIKI page. He also provides you with a list of sources to purchase the parts from for his builds. I hope you are starting with a gen IV motor 2005 and up with the better rods and pistons at least, unless your HP goals are less than 650-700 hp. GOOD LUCK !

Ebay GT35s work well on a 5.3.
Avoid any 50-59mm ebay turbo that has an internal wastegate. Even on a mild cam 4.8, you'll overpower the tiny gates openings and you'll have a lot more boost than the 8 PSI they're rated for. Personal experiences on multiple engines.

Now we're getting somewhere, thanks for the advice. That's what I meant with regards to the Buicks, we used internal wastegates and 200-4r's down into the 10's.

I have 56mm internal gate eBay turbos on my cammed 5.3 and they would hold the boost down to 10.5 pounds on just the gates. I also trapped 138 mph at 3000 pounds on 10.5lbs.
But from what I've seen from a few other people they didn't have my luck with them.

Doesn't matter now as I will likely go single turbo. I ordered a set of up and forward turbo headers cause they were cheap and looked awesome, but just mocking things up it looks like they will probably not work with the stock GTO rad setup.

There is a single 56/57mm ebay turbo that uses a larger gate opening than the others. There are a few people having luck with that particular turbo. Almost all of the other Chinese T3 turbos use the exact same turbine housing/wastegate combo, which just doesn't work for a V8.Originally Posted by Elledge12

Some of the HY and HX 35/40 holset clones have internal gates that are more up to the task. Though the actuators themselves are setup for high boost diesel applications. With a low pressure actuator install, they should regulate the boost down to manageable levels on an LS. Only direct experience is a single HX40 on a 302 mustang. We got it down to 9lbs.
They flow more than the typical t3 ebay stuff by far. Also loud (and likely laggy) by comparison to a gt35... but will make more power per pound and are internally gated. If you look around you can find some that I'm told have a true 60+mm compressor. Usually labeled as "super drag" like this...
I’ve never ordered one and going by the picture I’d guess they are the typical 54mm and the guys don’t know how to measure it correctly. U can always return it though if it’s not a true 60mm since the AD claims it is. Might want to ask the seller first before purchasing. I did and they claimed “it’s a new more bigger wheel for performances”. So…
