I think with a 383 you could pully for max blower rpm at peak engine rpm. that was the mistake i made and I pully'd my D1 to hit max impeller at 6800rpm where my cam was spec'd to peak and didn't realize the 427 would out flow the blower so far.

looking forward to Detoxx's new build!

Spec the cam to peak lower than you want. Remember, the blower increases VE significantly. So open the exhaust earlier... much earlier EVO and go with a slightly earlier IVC...

Thats the plan, I do want to see what the little D1 can do on my 383ci before I trade up for a F series.

It's coming along. Already have crank and rods. Pistons are being made now and should have in a couple weeks.

I can offer a little insight here. Below is a pic from when I dyno'd my 408 (for use with my F2). The dyno was done on an engine dyno but without the blower. You can see that peak torque was around 5600 rpm and peak horsepower was around 7000 rpm.

I got the truck dialed in pretty good with the F2 spinning it very slow at 42000 rpm which is only about 58% of max recommended speed.

You can look at your V/E table and get a pretty good idea of where the motor is making peak torque. In the Holley EFI you can overlay a line on the V/E table to see where the motor was during the run. The place where you are seeing the highest value (for fueling) is typically where the motor is making peak torque. On that particular pulley set up, the blower was making only 17 psi at the shift (7400 rpm) and the V/E table was showing peak torque right around 7000 rpm.

Just an fyi for you guys to help understand how a centri set up will raise peak torque rpm up significantly. It's simple due to the nature of how the centri increases flow with speed.

If I was to run my F2 at max speed, I'm not sure it would ever make peak torque before blowing the fenders off the truck.

yeah, live and learn. cam was custom spec'd by LME for the complete setup so should have been done by the best in the business. My blower just super small for the motor. Jealous of the f1x guys with the perfect up and right power curves.

A d1sc to d1x comparison dyno from procharger would be nice.

Bob, any reason why Procharger aren't making these blowers the standard? If they are better surely they should just become part of the standard lineup?....

The P-1X isn't going to make as much torque down low as a P-1SC-1 does, so it isn't going to be the blower for everyone. Heavier vehicles will do better with either the P-1SC or the P-1SC-1. I don't know if this is also true with the D-1X yet or not. Thanks. Bob
