Default Exhaust wrap cooked!

So let me just get this out in the open, it was e cheap ebay wrap......Can someone vouch for a good brand of wrap, mines only on for about 5/600 miles(very hard miles) and is already cooked, like it started out black, now it's white, and if you touch it, basicly sounds like crushing a bag patatoe chip's!
I believe the next evolution of my wrap will be just to start crumbling off........

I used the DEI Titanium wrap on mine. I put about 3K miles on it last year. I decided to rework my down pipe this winter. I was able to unwrap it no problem. It was a tad bit stiffer than when it was new but held up great,. I was able to re wrap the pipe with the same piece. Still looks brand new.

Check out Thermal Zero. I used the TI wrap and it looks new after a year. Considerably less expensive than DEI and there is actually someone supporting the product.

I've had bad luck with the China wrap as well. Mine has just started flaking apart.

I've had good results using PTP lava wrap and blankets, similar to DEI just slightly cheaper.

I like the DEI Titanium wrap because there is NO fiberglass in it. I bought some cheap Titanium wrap that was essentially the knock off of the DEI stuff....and It definitely had fiberglass in it beccause a bunch of it was embedded in my skin all over my arms in no time.

I have used the DIE fiberglass and Ti back to back and the Ti is way nicer in looks and ease of use.

Got any pics of the wrap you used?

I Never had an issue with the cheap straight fiberglass stuff. I always coat the manifold with BBQ grill paint first. Then install the glass wrap secure with safety wire and coat it with BBQ grill paint as well. It holds up for years that way. (unless I got some better fancy cheap wrap which I doubt?) This is just random scraps I had laying around from other builds.

I'll take some pics when I get home, I still have some of the new roll(black) and how it looks now(pure white)

Are you running tubular manifolds or cast iron stuff? I know guys say the thinner wall tubular stuff gets much hotter.

Another happy dei titanium user here. Hate how expensive it is but the stuff is amazing and super easy to wrap. Mine is 2 yrs old and still looks brand new.

Truck manifolds, and the the wrap retained color a little longer than the rest of the hot side, so I would say that's accurate
