Default First time boosting.. Need advice!

Hey all,

I've decided to sell my '95 Impala SS to fund my 6-speed 6L GTO build. Since I'll have the extra cash from that plus tax return season is real soon, I'm going ***** deep and doing it all out. My original plan was just a head cam, but the extra money means I can finally afford a stroker and boost setup. What I'm thinking so far is the following (including some parts I already have that aren't in my goat yet):
  • Mast 245 Cathedral Heads prepped by Ed Curtis (already have)
  • Fast 102 w/ Nick Williams TB
  • Lunati Forged 4' Crank
  • Callies Compstar 6.125 H-Beam Rods
  • Wiesco 4.005 -15cc dish pistons
  • Coated clevite bearings
  • Tool steel wrist pins
  • Cometic MLS .040 gaskets
  • Deatchswerks DW65C Pump (already have)
  • Ed Curtis custom boost cam to replace my original N/A custom cam
  • Melling oil pump (already have)
  • Lunati Link Bar hydraulic lifters
  • D-1SC Procharger w/ a standard intercooler
  • Custom Ed Curtis pushrods
  • Monster LT1-S w/ 18lb flywheel (already installed)
  • ARP 134-3610 head bolts (already have)
  • Powerbond 25% UD pulley

I'm looking for guidance from anyone who's more familiar with boost... I'm worried more about my new fuel pump not being able to supply enough fuel, along with which injectors to use. This is all new territory for me since I'm used to all motor cars, I'm trying to kinda figure out how much power I can without using meth because that seems like a whole different story. Still gunning for big power-just need help!

Any advice is welcome!

You haven't actually said how much power you want to make.

That pump will only support ~600whp on a good day.

Fuel pump(s) and injector selection will depend on your power goals and fuel used.

Knew I was leaving something out.. Gunning for 700HP, possibly more since I need a new clutch anyways lol

Did some poking, the Lonnie's dual pump system appears to be about the best option. Voltage boosting or an extra external pump are merely bandaids that patch a big problem... I did notice the huge price increase in the claimed 750HP kit versus the 1000HP kit, I'm guessing that's a mix of different pumps and stainless lines?

Ditch the idea of a FAST 102 and an underdrive pulley. The FAST will give no appreciable gain in terms of HP/dollar value on your setup, but it could give idle tuning headaches with a TB that big. Underdrive pulleys have their uses in high winding motors, which yours won't be, so don't waste the coin on something that could cause charging and cooling problems at idle.

I have Lonnies dual in tank setup, great product and customer service. The reason for the price jump around the 750hp mark is because that's around the point where the stock fuel lines, fuel rail, and regulator need to be upgraded. I would also recommend some 80# injectors for pump gas use, if your going E85 you'll need more.

I also agree with the other guys sell the FAST and UD pulley and use the money for something else. The LS6 intake will handle your goals just fine. You also might need a ATI balancer for the Procharger pulley system.

Do you have a link to the D1 kit your going to buy for the GTO platform ?

It looks like a Lonnie's pump setup is in order then.. I'm glad I hadn't bought a Fast or a NW 102 throttle body..

I'm assuming I'm searching for just a standard ATI balancer for a GTO? Out of curiosity, why couldn't I use an UD pulley on a boosted application like this?

A ud pulley slows down all belt driven accessories, including a supercharger which will lower the boost. The ATI kit will come with the proper pulley.

Before you order a ATI pulley, what Procharger kit are you buying ?

My budget unfortunately changed course, decided its not in the books to go boost at this point in time.
