I would use the on3 70mms with .68 ar. I'm going to use one of these on a 4.3l with 96 ar to see how fast it will go while I build a new hot side for a borg s400.

Well today I pulled the trigger I was able to get a really good deal on a complete a53 pull out and a set of 317 heads for a thousand even. The only bad part was that the harness I got was for an 07 Silverado so I'm not entirely sure if that's going to pose a problem in the long run.

There are plenty of 5.3 317 combos out there working great. It was a short while because it was put in as a temporary motor since my 6.0 wasn't done yet and I hit it with a 150 shot on top of the boost at a no prep race and the gen 3 rods didn't like it. Broke 3 and bent the rest

Yea im a little worried about my 3rd gen rods. But having a hard time comitting to aftermarket rods.

If you want to make over 650whp and be reliable I'd invest or at least upgrade to gen 4

Piston ring filer is the correct method. I've used a cut off wheel on a dremel similar to this JY stuff too.
