Help everyone pick a turbo for my drag 5.3l camaro
Ok so I'm building an all drag setup on a budget. The car is a 98 z28 hardtop shooting for 3,000lb raceweight single turbo 5.3l gen 4 rods and pistons turbo cam stock truck intake backed by a th400. I was set on a s475 t6 1.32ar but now that it's time to buy I'm wondering if I should go s480 and if I do a s480 what should I be doing for t4 or t6 and what ar? I'm staying cast wheels and standard cover either way to keep cost down. What's some of your guys input on these turbo? Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

Well HP and/or ET goal would be required. 3000lb race weight is really light for a 4th gen F-body. That's a fully gutted car, with cro moly cage. Only cars I've seen down around that weight have been high dollar race only. Either way you want to stick to the T6, its cheaper than the T4 for exhaust housings, and won't be so much of a restriction. I understanding asking here for the purpose of a conversation and multiple points of view, but I'd recommend you call a few turbo vendors and tell them your goals and ask what they would recommend.
It also depends if you want to go with the old standard or try something different, that not everyone else has done. I'd be tempted to try one of those new Huron Speed turbos, a US manufactured, S400 chassis with a billet compressor, and a 96 turbine for $1375 shipped, sounds like a deal, but you'd be a ginea pig. Huron Speed had been great to support customers, so that would make me feel more comfortable with it.
