Default Procharger 8 rib belt woes

Need some help with belt options. I have a P1SC-1 with the 8 rib setup 7.65 crank, 4.0 blower and have the Chevy Chad mod done to add the extra idler at the bottom. I put a Goodyear 4080425 belt on and it fits good made 7psi and I was happy. The boost started to stall out around 5psi after a couple weeks driving so I tightened the belt and all was good again. Now the boost is down again and the belt feels a bit loose. Here is where the problem is. The tensioner is maxed out as in the belt will be touching between the tensioner and the idler if I crank it down anymore. So I ordered a shorter belt but the only size available was 1 inch shorter and turned out to be too short. I really need a belt that is 42 inch long but nobody seems to make one. I'm thinking of trying 2 4rib belts and see if that will work but I am a bit leary whether it will work or not. Anyone have any input other than shell out the cash for a spring tensioner bracket or change the belt every couple thousand miles.

Try a K080415 Gates belt from Napa. According to Gates, that belt is 42 1/8". The next size down is a K080408. They say that one is 41 3/8".

Already tried the 415 and the effective length is 41.5 outside is a bit over 42

Any chance you can double check the brand for me? I can't seem to find anyone that makes a 42" in 8rib

Try switching to a FleetRunner Greenback Belt. They are super strong. You can get them from NAPA.

Yeah no size either. I've tried every option I can think of.

How much smaller is that too short belt? Can you get it partially on and crank the engine over to pop it into place? Any new belt should also be broken in before going wide open throttle as new belts will stretch. This can take up to an hour of run time, then tighten the belt back down. Bob

The 4080415 I got onto the pullies with the headunit unbolted. I could get one bolt in the headunit but the belt is too short to get the others in. The blower pulley bolt is against the alternator pulley and the tensioner puley is up against the main drive belt idler. I would have to get the headunit pryed out and bolted and still tension it some not gonna happen. When I installed the original 4080425 I did retension it after driving it. After tuning it on the dyno I had some slip so I tightened it more and that is where I'm at now.

I think you'd have better luck with the head unit bolted in place, then partially get the belt around the crankshaft pulley, then crank the engine over. That is if the belt is long enough to even get it partially around the crank pulley. Bob

I know this thread is old as dirt, but I was having this exact same issue with the same setup...7.65 crank, 4 inch blower pulley, 2nd idler added and could NOT get the 5080415 belt to get slide in or I could get it on and not bolted down. Found this thread and read about bolting it down and then hand cranking the motor over to drag the blower belt on the pulley and it worked!!! To be fair i dremeled out the tensioner opening to make it longer so i could back the tensioner out even further.Big thanks for this tip and the search DOES work!!!
