Default Need help... Catch can smoking

Took my truck to get dyno tuned today. Made a half a dozen pulls with good results. It's a single turbo ls1 running 8 pounds of boost. I recently installed a Might Mouse vented catch can with both valve covers connected via -10 lines. Before the Dyno it would smoke a little at idle but I understand that was normal with no PCV. When I started it to load it on the trailer we noticed lots of smoke from the engine bay. Opened the hood and the breather was smoking like a freight train. It also seems the oil pressure is lower then it was. Do you think the motor is hurt? Not sure what to do or where to start.

Start with a leak down test on all cylinders.

Did you drain the catch can, see how much oil was in it.
If a high vol pump, I wonder if you filled the valve covers up with oil.
Def a crazy amt. of smoke. As said, I would perform a leak down, at the least run a comp test.

Yup thats the same i had on my last lq4 when i busted ringlands. The motor ran fine but the smoke got worse and worse.Like mentioned above..maybe you filled the catch can and it needs to drain or you have a hv oil pump and excess oil sitting at the top of the heads but for sure check comp/leak down test.

With my current lq4 and same setup..my catch can doesnt smoke at all..barely anything in boost either.I check the catchcan every 2 weeks depending on how much I drive the car.

I have no sound, but that looks like its happening at idle, in which case, motor is hurt.

During a pull, that wouldnt concern me.

Nah, you'll be fine. But if you see smoke like OP after the tuning session.....set the hoist up.

If it ends up being rings would it be better to buy a new short block or rebuild the current motor with forged internals.

Seriously, if I lived near you....I would in a heartbeat. I hate seeing a guy having motor issues.

How much power /boost do you think a forged ls1 could handle?

There will be people that tell you that the ls1 is the absolute wrong motor to make boosted power with, but there's one close to me that's making roughly 800rwhp....and propels a 3750lb ss to 9.30s at nearly 150.
