I think the main thing is boring them out. At $2400, they come in a 3.990" bore so it would have to basically spend all day getting all eight holes bored out for anything over 4.00" - 4.030" pistons.

Rotary1307 and EagleGoat beat me two it. Hip'd heads don't have the porosity of a standard casting.

Just from an outsider looking in a local racer bought a 427 built with an LSNext block and he had a hell of a time retro fitting it into his factory LS equipped car.
The oil pan required adapters, the knock sensors didn't fit, there was issues with the oil dipstick, a remote oil filter had to be used, just tons of little things he had to resolve.
In the end he wished he bought an LSX block and been done with it.
