Help a guy just getting into FI
Car currently has
stock bottom end ls1 (135k)
243 heads upgraded springs trunion kit
ls9 head gasket
ls7 lifters
btr stage iv na cam
option 1
turbo what's in the car
swap out cam for ls9
run the turbo kit
Option 2.
Lq9 /317 heads
swap rockers springs lifters pushrods from 243 setup
arp main bolts
cam?
option 3.
Suggestions?
Go with Option 2....but forged rods and pistons at least. Stock cranks are good for 800 RWHP. You can use a 3.825" Callies crank and get a 390ci like mine.
.
But I guess that kind of gives you reassurance
cam depends on converter/gears etc..
pump gas, corn or race gas?
I had a 6.0 and a 78/75 set up. never made it to the dyno, but I dont think it had 800 at the wheels in it. (pump 91+water meth)

Billet 78 and a LJMS Stage 2 or 3 cam.
If your looking for 800 at the crank you stock LS1 will get you pretty close.
I'm hoping to be pretty close to 750 crank/630whp at 10-11lbs. with my T7875, CNC ported 317's and turbo cam.
Honestly I'd boost what you have, add a LJMS cam and enjoy it while you assemble a bullet for your ultimate goal.

i run a cam a little bigger than the small trickflow in a 4.8 with the 78/75 and it's a beast. street tires are useless at any speed. drag radials are useless from a dig on the street.
my advice would be to assemble a known "cookie-cutter" combo and learn to tune that.
Sock away $250-$300 and when a used one pops up which it inevitably will, scoop it up.
The only new parts on my build were my gauges lol, everything else was used and sourced through this forum.
Also consider there are guys out there with stock long block 5.3's with little more than springs and push rods making over 700whp.
While an application specific cam is always a good addition to any combo I don't feel like its a requirement to make decent power.
