So I bought a Holley HP EFI kit a couple of years ago and still haven't got around to installing it. Would it make any sense at all to sell it and buy a Fitech Kit, and make a few hundred dollars to spend on other parts? I would just get the base Fitech kit with the ECU, harness, and o2 sensors. My car is cammed only and if I do FI it wouldn't be for 2-5 years if that. From what I've read on Holleys kit vs Fitech, the Holley HP is more capable?

Just first fired mine tonight. $800 no trans control unit in my 76 gmc Jimmy 2wd. I've already got a usshift controller and didn't need the trans control. Should have spent the extra for the second wideband O2, but I believe I could add it later. 2003 Lq9 engine with stock intake. Needed their prescribed map sensor and stock IAT which I mounted mounted on my intake tube. Put 2 miles on it or so. Keep in mind this is speed density only so no MAF needed. Runs a bit hot with 14.2 afr idle target.
To use the stock 24lb injectors I had to splice in the factory connectors. I used one par of injector harnesses provided that had ev6 clips. The other set provided has ev1 clips which I intend on using later with Deka 80lb injectors.

Looks and sounds good! Sounded real healthy and had great throttle response.

Tach output for an old tach like that is 1 per rev, or 8cylinder, 1 rev is a full compression and exhaust stroke. The LS tachs are setup to read the stock LS PCM tach signal which is 1/2 that of a old school V8, so its basically in 4cylinder tach signal. Your need to set yours to 8 cylinder for your tach to read hopefully. My Speedhut tach allows me to change the tach signal on the gauge as I could never get the stock LS PCM to output a stock old school V8 signal.

If one were to dabble with a little bit of nitrous, does this system have the ability to have more than one tune saved? If so, when you arm the nitrous, do you have to go in the handheld unit and manually select that tune or will it see the signal from the switch when you arm the nitrous and automatically set that tune that you had for the nitrous?

Keep in mind I went from a th350. IMO it's the best purchase I've made pre-lq9. I think I recorded a vid. I'll post it up when I can.

Found it.

It was easy to integrate into the fitech harness by tapping the tps output wire on the throttle body. I was previously running a SBC and using an add on tps with a carburetor.

Worth every penny. Stiff shifts when I'm alone, a quick twist of the **** and she shifts super soft for easy cruising. Complete control of full throttle upshift points is also very cool.
Sorry for veering off topic.

why would that matter? No fuel sensors, just command a AFR and it gets you there. If E85 needs a richer AFR then just command it. But from what I remember its
meant for pump gas 10% ethanol. It does not have a fuel type sensor or even a fuel pressure sensor, it assumes your setting fuel pressure at 58psi and it just adjusts injector pulsewidths.

On my 99 z28. If I unplug the sensors from the stock computer that this connects to and plug this up. Should dash and everything work as it did stock.

From my research it is technically compatable. High end systems like haltech have the ability to compensate for ethanol content. This system does not. I plan on running e85 and manually compensate by having a stand alone fuel content analyzer, then adjusting my tune. Most TB fitech users with blow throuth setups are only adjusting their engine displacement parameters, inputting a static 30% greater value to shift the fueling tables. Zietronics makes a kit for around $350.

Pretty long thread, so forgive me if I missed it. Does this system have any logging capabilities? Does it connect to a computer? How much can you refine the fuel and spark tables...if it even has them. I like my Holley ALOT. But, its pretty expensive if you want to control a trans.

Yes and yes. I will be getting into more tuning but it will be next spring before I can report back. Fully tuneable, but no good tech support. That is the difference. I'm treating this like open source, like MS. I'll be a guinea pig.

Are you thinking about switching to the Fitech kit? Only asking because I have a Holley HP kit that I haven't installed yet. Been trying to figure out if it would be worth switching it up.

I love my Holley more than life itself. But if there is a significantly cheaper way to do things then I’m all ears. Your looking at just under $3000 for a Dominator setup if you want to control a trans. Fitech has a system for $1000. Yeah the Dommy can do ALOT more, maybe I don’t need “ALOT” more.

We’ll just have to see how this system works and if it’s reliable.
