I know my buddy went with the MSD wires and redid the routing on the harness .

Hmmm that sucks.

What kind of wires are you running and how close are they to the coils etc? Have you called FItech to see what they have to say?

Has anyone else got got there's setup and running? I've been holding off on mine so I can enjoy the weather and driving time left.

Yea, they said anytime you make changes to the tube via the handheld you have to write it to the ECM. So after every change "send to ECM".

How does she run? I'm really looking forward to my swap. Driving mine around a lot and the cold start and surge at idle coming to a stop gets more and more annoying every time I drive it.

Oh, so I guess I will have to download the software to the ECM as well.

How is it running? Startup? Idle etc?

What cam setting are you using? Have you set it up through the handheld or computer? Any videos?

I was told to use cam setting 2. My cam is 227/235, .614/.625 on a 113. It's all set up though the hand held. I video taped it running, don't know how to post it.

When I spoke with Kirk at FItech he recommended the same cam setting for my 218/228 .562/.561 114.5+5.5. My biggest thing is the initial start, quick crank and high cold start. What rpm are you able to get that cam to idle at? I would love a 600rpm idle with mine but have been only able to get as low as 750 with the stock ECM.

To post a video you will have to upload it to YouTube and post the link or put it on a photo hosting site and post the link, I recommend YouTube bc it's much easier.

Well the fitech kit was a big fail for me. The spot i have the pcm is driver side and the fitech unit is setup for the passenger side or under the dash. The only way I could have made it work for me would be to cut up the harness which wasn't worth it to me because if I had a problem they wouldn't cover it. I was also disappointed in the harness layout. Even if put it on the passenger side I still would have had some wires that would have been tight and others that were way to long.

Gagliano
I've been watching this to see how the Fitech kit worked, sucks that it won't mount how you would like it to...
Other than the mounting and the stint with the software download, does the unit seem to work fine otherwise?

Thank
Bill

That's not really the fault of FItech. They said it was designed to mount under the dash, also it's a preterminated harnesss so your going to have issues with length etc for things... they can't design it around every obstacle each individual person has. Not saying that you blaming them for such things... this is just a given for a off the shelf harness.

The stock PCM for trucks has the PCM in the front driver side. For me to mount it on the pass side firewall I had the hack the harness up and extend some wires for it to flip correctly. Wasnt the worst but not alexactly fun with the oversized stock harness.

Sucks that you didn't even get to run it.

I never even tried it. I didn't want to hack up the harness and void warranty so I sent it back. The software download wasn't me.

I did my swap 5 years ago with the truck stock harness setup for a swap so I have everything already setup on drivers side fender well. I started having problems with my harness so I decided to try the fitech. I was hoping it would work out but I guess I will be going back to the stock setup. All the other after market ls systems are just so damn expensive.

What kind of idle controls do they have, AFR's, timing, etc-I might have to download some instructions and see what all you can do-as said I was looking at the 70051 for engine and trans control on a budget.
Going from a couple previous Holley HP's on projects it would prob be a little disappointing, but its not a race car, so it would just have to run good with a little boost and shift the trans.
