Thanks
Yep, trans pan tapped. Super simple deal. It's not on his website, email him about it. I can take some pics of it tonight, there is some pics on the YB as well of others utilizing on thrust wipe threads.

Every shaft is different, not every pump will respond the same way to an orifice. Line pressure changes the diameter of a restriction to obtain the same pressure. Converters play a role , oil type has its effects and the list goes on.
found. Did the mod, per the instructions. Then, found the psi still too high. ended up w/ a much smaller orifice..

If you are short on bread, now is the best time to learn how to build your own tranny.

I'm normally 100% the guy that would, but I've got too much at stake to let this happen again and getting trans in and out of the car is a big deal (small bmw)

I'm in ct.

The trans is almost back together. All the clutches were smoked and had an untouched converter charge orifice. 610$ with a billet clutch hub, new seals and clutches, pump mod and some other things. Money well spent in my book. I'll probably add an external dump valve just incase the cooler is super restrictive

Youll never have to worry about the thrust again if the converter wasn't restricted before and is now. That was the problem.

Good point about the driveshaft. I raced the entire last season with my th400 which did not have a restrictor mod of the pressure relief with 0 thrust issues. I measured my thrust is still at .006". But for peace of mind and with the new PTC converter I did both those mods. Got my valve and all my info from hutch.

Ill check the drivesahft, but its IRS so the diff doesnt mover and it has about 3/4 inch of spline movement.

I think ill also do the cooler line valve too, just for an extra piece of mind.

Talking My cure...

on my 80E.
A cheapo Summit inline #6AN filter, with the element out, a restrictor/ orifice put in. Determining the orifice size once I get this pig running. [I have the machine tools to make various size drop-ins]. Or, washers drilled to size?
My cooler is remote, has a pressure port/-6 fittings, so I can add the tee, and retain the same setup.
I measured a -3ANx1/8npt fitting bore. .107". [7/64" = .109]. I don't know why a gauge port, -6 union couldn't be used in line, w/ a -3 in the side of it, and then to the pan. If a -3 line is too small, and would restrict flow, then a -4, w/ the npt end threaded for carb jets. As easy as changing shims.

I have waaay too much time on my hands.

Just to throw this in, if using a rest. in the actual cooling line, would you want the rest. in the return line, so keeping the cooler full for better cooling?
Just kind of my thoughts on that.

Hadn't thot of that.
I'm looking for a hyd circuit drawing on the 80E. I have the T400, and want to compare, before I screw something up.
Was going to buy the GM book...Shown as no longer available, on the bag, and Amazon.
