This is real easy, the fastest road use cars run turbos....its that simple. Go to any track, watch some of the faster cars.... then go look under their hoods. You will almost always find a hairdryer. Go to a half mile event.....same thing.

Same question to you. You do know why they don't run turbos don't you?

True, need is relative. It really doesn't matter what power adder you have, under 20psi we call that boring. So 25+ gets you to that mildly entertaining point we might start to be interested.

Lol I'm going to be going to 21psi and I thought that was a lot... 25+ psi would be insane!

Insane is relative, with a good tune and fuel it's nothing but a thing.

Ive got to drop that $500 for the software first . Never mind the $600 for tires and $1,000 for the rear end. It never ends...

That statement is also relative. Something is "boring" vs "entertaining" going off of manifold pressure? So making 2200hp with 20psi is boring? Maybe a car with 18psi gapping a car with 28psi. Lol.

My local track is 1/8th mile and most of the fast cars are running nitrous or superchargers. People have different goals. Personally I like obnoxious high compression big cam motors, but unfortunately you can't keep an all motor setup streetable and compete with boosted cars. So for me since I've already ran 6.5x with a nitrous setup the next best thing is a supercharged setup.

I think turbos are amazing don't get me wrong and if you want to compete with the fastest street cars in the nation then that's probably the route you need to go. I don't have the funds for that any way so with my goal of running high 9's in the 1/4 with a street car a supercharger will get it done while still giving me that "muscle car" characteristic I like. Heck you can run 10's all motor with reasonable streetabity pretty easy.

I guess lol. 16psi gets the job done for me but I guess that's the perks of having an efficient setup without a lot of restriction.

yes and your 900 plus rwhp is plenty for any car that gets driven on the street on a regular basis. I don't know how anyone could criticize your setup.

A lot of you guys really know your **** and have the ET's or at least the mph to back it up. While others talk like they know it all, but are running slower in their turbo cars than I did in my last all motor setup. Ouch...lol...

Lol I know I was just stirring the pot. But if you can make 2200hp on 20psi that's pretty epic, that's like a 900hp engine to start with.

Whats that 900whp trap? An honest 900hp in that car should be close to 160mph.

Lol ya a blower car that would explode if you drove it to mcdonalds. Bringing up race cars that need maintenance every half mile of use in a street car discussion is funny.

lol I was just giving the guy that said they don't use turbos in top fuel because of regulations a hard time. I haven't posted much in the ten years I've been here, but I'm feeling onry today.

Lmfao, I was just thinking that.
I think the answer to the OP question is well...yes.
If I was gonna go "legit" street racing I wouldn't build a stick car, it'd be an auto turbo car for sure.
