Hey John, kinda off topic but did your buddy with the blue 69 that got rear ended, did he get it fixed or at least getting it fixed?

He's fixing it himself, he had done all the bodywork himself before.

Fantastic, its always a little heartbreaking when something like that happens especially when subframe damage seems to happen so easily.
Hopefully he's pocketing a little of that insurance check doing the work himself.

Yeah getting rearended on a rural road was a shock, I think the other person was on their phone. I'm guessing he'll have it fixed by June 1.

Well getting back to the banana, I'll pick thru some little stuff I have left.

I need to pick up my other ladder bars from my buddy, he was adding safety hoops for me.

So I thought I read earlier that your intended RPM limit was in the 8,000+ range using the parts below.
LS7 lifters, stock 799 valves, BTR .660 springs, stock rockers.
Is that all that's required to turn those kinds or R's or did you deviate from that parts list?
Was there anything specific about the Baker cam that enables that much RPM?

That's what I have in there. Probably the only thing I would redo (and will change in new shortblock) are the lifters, would go to something like Johnson link bar lifters. One of my advisors likes the link bar style a bit more, he used to run LS7s too.

The words "soft lobes" were used regarding this cam, designed to get spun to 7700-8200. All I know about the cam is it's 233/236 ish duration, they keep the specs secret.

Also I didn't go into more deets about Sunday but I was doing some rolling boost hits, small boost. I was liking it. Hence my urgency to fix the damn brakes and move on.

Drove it Sunday, the brakes are still janky do so I just ran it for a bit to make sure everything else was happy.

Andrew B has done a killer job of tuning the driveability, just bump the key and off I go.

I was in a long lot so I rolled into the gas a few times to feel some power but the brakes are subpar and the car is going to my buddy's shop next week.

Idle vid:

Sounds awesome and hopeful that you get those brakes sorted so you can start putting a few more street miles on it.

Looking forward to updates as this progresses forward and looking forward to seeing some passes at LS Fest East.

Good to know, car sounds excellent btw.
I'm dying to get going as well, a bushing in my manual rack failed and I can't find a replacement and its making me nuts especially seeing as how everything else is done.
Can't wait to see some boost hit videos!

Yeah thanks for the positive vibes and interest!

Yeah I'd love to make more boost, I was enjoying it Sunday I just didn't want to crash.

Thanks. This weekend I'll measure my master cylinder push rod, appears to be the culprit. I went ahead and ordered a longer one that I can also cut down.

So the culprit is the brake push rod, the ones I have are too short.

I measure these out at 4.0, though the Strange kit says it's 4.2... But I have a 6.0 one coming from Speedway, and will cut it down. Should be here next couple of days.

I did test as was suggested, and the current ones were too short, maybe just a half inch we'll see.

That should raise the pedal and give proper brake light switch operation when it's all adjusted properly. How is the overall brake performance now with the new master ?

Might raise the pedal a smidge. it was already pretty maxed out and engaging the rear brake light plunger switch.

As for the brakes overall, can't say yet, new rod is not here yet. A couple of friends wanted me to just use threaded rod from hardware store but I want the rounded tip like it's supposed to be.
