Default 408-VSR Billet 80 Nova first track outing

TSP 408
NA 232/234 112*
TEA 241's
VSR Billet 80/96
TRE A/A intercooler
Pro Flo
4L80 with Pro Yank 3400
3.50 Gear
275 pro
A/C
P/S
32 Gallon fuel cell
Full exhaust 2 mufflers
3900 on the dot W/me

These passes I'm at 12.5-13psi and 10-13* of timing depending on the pass. My launch psi was varying on the footbrake with the 2 step.

Best it went was 1.46/6.31/9.89 @138mph but it did go 140 on a slower pass where it spun. Wired up the boost controller so I can get accurate boost launch I'll be going to the track tomorrow night to see how much quicker I can go before I turn it up some more. I'd like to think I only scratched the surface of this combo, it should go a lot faster.

I totally read the title wrong! I thought it meant '80 Nova, not a billet 80 IN a Nova! Lol. I'm thinking "they didn't even make a Nova in '80" (it's 4:45 am here, so I'll use that as an excuse). I was then quickly relieved to see your Nova in the video. That thing's gonna scoot! Very cool ride. BTW, where the hell did you find a 32 gallon fuel cell?

Thanks guys, the tank is custom built and it counter sinks under the trunk so it doesn't look very big inside the trunk.

Yea IC figment is an issue with these, 4" thick is about the biggest you can probably go without cutting stuff up. The one I have now isn't doing a good job, pegging the sensor at 199* right at 3rd gear. I'm upgrading to the bigger TRE 9" tall core which is good for 1300HP

I fit a 4" thick IC with a lot of trimming. But it came out nice.
At 18 psi last night, 80 ambient saw 109 degrees at the finish line.
199 degrees is nuts.
That car is on the ground man. How's it so low?
Must be nice to run a good track.

Yea it's pretty high, I'm about to upgrade. It's a ladder bar car but has cheap comp shocks on all 4 corners. This track is actually shitty, I'm headed to Our better 1/8 track tonight hoping for some 6.teens at worse

Ladder bar cars don't tend to need fancy shocks

Tough looking Nova and nice shake down times. What kind of exhaust are you running? Sounds quiet and might pick up significantly with a cutout.

Thanks, has 4" all the way to the back with a big case magnaflow and bullet style muffler towards the end. I actually have a boost actuated cutout that I have yet to put on. I'm going to do that, get a bigger intercooler and most like put a transbrake before I go out again.

Went to the track last night but I just couldn't get a consistent launch

Get the front half ironed out and she should be pretty quick.
When are you locking the converter?

Converter stays unlocked, surprisingly it's only slipping 4% up top, we are logging shaft speed. 1300rpm shift extensions so converter has some room to add power

Awesome results! I've got the same turbo on a 347 t brake/th400 with a 3.50 gear in a nova I'm hoping to have ready to rock soon. I ran 5" exhaust down to the starter area and then I was going to merge to 4" and run that back and dump it at the back axle, do you think you will run into backpressure issues at all?I'm hoping too get low 9's out of it, it weighed 2800# with an iron sbc, now it's aluminum l33 347 but added some weight with the turbo and intercooler! Very interested in your future results! Please keeps us updated

im pretty sure i will have some BP issues but on this boost it seems to be doing fine. like i mentioned i have a boost actuated cutout im going to install so that should relieve some of the BP that i may have right now.

do you think the backpressure issues will be because of pipe size? Or because of the mufflers?
